depends on your hose size i suppose. i used some cigarette filters in my hose just behind mini torch and it would not flash back. you could use steel wool pushed into hose or even cotton. the deal is to not pack it so tight you cannot push hho through it. some have posted that a fishtank airstone works well also. basically the flame cannot travel back into your hho producer. and it will try. now, if you have a producing tank that has a clamp lid and it travels back, poooof. no more lid. i have used now heavy duty tuperware from ikea. it works well and if anything happens the lids just burb off. no big deal.

Drew maybe the Theory is more what I meant I used to build and sell high velocity nail guns before they became illegal  and one day a fellow put a cig in the gun [38caliber] playing a prank the result was a broken arm the cig/cotton aided in combustion MUCH more power and BOOM  I think we should understand this approach to flashback more   PS I know your using for hobby   but I am looking for that and also home heating   thanks Chet

I have used nail guns... how the heck did a cig mess that up and where the heck did he put it? no prob. I have an hho gen in my truck now as of Saturday, I also have this as a hobby cause I think i can use a mini torch for many uses. My main fear regarding this stuff is having the storage tank or producing tank if there is alot of volume in it flash back. As long as we are careful, this stuff is good to work with. Think safety first guys... this stuff burns fast....

DREW the older nail guns were breach loaded split in half to load     place the nail in first   then the charge right on top[ 38 caliber ] then close the gun and shoot     muzzle  velocity 12-1500 feet per second  [ hydrogen propagation 8500 fps ]  Wise guy put cig/ cotton in barrel [instead of nail] much bigger boom [broke bones] I am in no way trying to be negative here I need this to work !!!    since we're not using a bubbler I want/must understand how this flame arrestor works against such a high velocity burn[ in theory]  IT has always been my experience that safety and being safe with new technology will help keep busybody Gov't hands out of the picture as long as possible    just one bad event on the TV news can give them all the excuse they need    we should be ultra careful with this   so as not to ruin it for others or harm ourselves  Chet

Drew this thread has a lot more to do  like why can we use the Torch flame to melt alloys at 5000 degrees ? why does the Torch flame effect nuclear waste [Radiation] ? to much good stuff here   for one thing I can heat a lot of house with 5000 degrees  Chet
