Thane's Toroid
« on: April 17, 2008, 04:48:18 PM »
I Just found this on youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BJqnfR3B4oc

there dosnt seem to be much talk about it on here (or have i looked in the wrong places)

it appears to be a toroidal transformer that is pre manufactured (not hand wound) and modified with a small coil accross the center inner diameter, which he explains is the primary.

this looks like a very simple thing to replicate, but one thing i dont understand is the fact that the input voltage drops as the output voltage rises, but the input amps stay the same.

if input voltage drops, the amps usually rise because or the extra load causing voltage to drop.
can someone please explain this.

also has anyone tried replicating this toroid?
