I was wondering Diesel fuel uses compression and heat to cause combustion.  Is there a pressure at which hydroxy would do the same thing?  On TV the other night was a show called future cars where they talked about alternative fuels.  There was mention of hydrogen, but they are talking about using it to produce electric instead of combustion being the driving force.  Seems to me that would be changing the form of energy produced more times then nessecary.  It would seem simpler to design a car to use water to make hydroxy to burn, then having water as a byproduct that could be collected and re-inserted as a fuel source again.  I would be posting all of this over at oupower but am still waiting after several days for my account to be activated.  Anyone know the admin there that can boost the process?  Well, the wifey wants me to come in from the shop and eat so I will write more later!

Hydrogen's ignition temperature is about 550C, compared to about 250C for diesel, so you would have to compress it much more than diesel for it to ignite this way.  It would be much easier to use a spark plug.

It's actually much more efficient to turn it into electrical energy first.  Electric motors can be >90% efficient, and fuel cells can be >60%, for more than 50% efficiency from hydrogen to your wheels.

Internal combustion engines, on the other hand, are about 30% efficient at their best RPM and power output.  And since you don't usually drive at just the right speed and power, you usually get a lot less.

You have to trick the o2 sensors when running HHO injection then you can go from 20% to 30% eff. in an car.

I've ran about 18 to1 air to fuel with  MY water injection at full throttle and got just as much power when I ran standard 12.5 to 1 AFR'S without it. The spark kernel intensity just before the main flame front starts is very important.
