Joule Thief with different batteries
« on: October 12, 2014, 11:56:56 PM »
Hello, for physics this year I am doing my science project on Joule Thiefs.  I am using 5 different batteries (AAA, AA. D, C, and a 12V car battery that are all considered dead) Is there a way to control the experiment while making all of them work. Is there a certain amount of turns around the toroid core that corresponds with the original voltage of the battery? Also, does the size of the core need to change throughout the experiment? Is it also possible to measure the voltage of the battery, then the voltage of it run through a joule thief?
Sorry if these seem like stupid questions, I am very new to the subject. Thanks in advance.
