Howdy

I havent tried it yet, but worth experimenting with. This is second patent I have seen that says passing steam through/over a cheap catalyst ( like oil or hot iron or hot stailess steel ) at tempertures between 250 and 800 F ( 120 - 400 C ) that challenge the "conventional wisdom" that water will crack into hydrogen and oxygen only above 1000 C.

See here     http://www.pat2pdf.org/patents/pat4622924.pdf

In effect exhaust gas heats the opil, steam is bubbled up through the oil, and comes out split into hydrogen and oxygen.

I dont have time to try this, but it would be simple enough to set up. Presumably you could use a something simple like a BBQ burner to heat the oil? Be careful though......

I had to search hard to find this patent so some one please check it out.

Cheers

Excellent find! Thank you! It is reminiscent of the GEET device.

Yes, very interesting!  I am wondering how much pollution would be involved, as the oil/resin would seem to get used up at an appreciable rate?

well oil technology has improved, so maybe it would be reduced by now..this patent was 1980s I think....

And we could use possbly other renewable oils.

But if it lowers cracking temperature, this opens many doors.

alright well i know one way doesn't work...i have a pcv condensator in my car and i pulled those gases through a water chamber and it only create a mildly acid water/fuel mixture....now im not sure about the vice versa way but that was that way.....just thought i would give you my 2 cents.
