My magnet configuration

I've become really interested in how magnet motors function and been thinking lately of a few ideas for how they might work, And since learning how to use FEMM (It was hard) I've come up with this concept.
my idea is for the steel to pull while the magnet in tow pushes the Armature around with two magnets with a steel spacer on the outer Stator.

Lemme know what you all think,

Hi Mikey,

I am a bit puzzled by your setup, do not get it fully. A top view and perhaps a side view could surely help, even doodled in MS Paint.

The stator is at the bottom with the two magnets, separated by the steel spacer. Is there also a further (air) gap between the steel and these magnet, maybe it is a FEMM drawing feature?

On the armature magnet the steel covers the three sides only and the fourth side is not covered?

Yes there is an air gap between the two stator magnets and steel spacer, I'm not totally sure if its necessary but I didn't want too much interaction between the two magnets.

And you are correct, There is only three sides of the armature magnet covered in steel.

Right now I'm not sure how the magnets final position should be cause I haven't ordered any yet, I may make the stator magnets follow the curve of the outside stator for a better push-pull effect.

Thanks for the drawing, now I got it. 

Basically the question is whether the rotor is able to gain enough momentum from the interaction with the stator assembly to escape?

First the stator magnet attracts the steel of the rotor, gains some torque, then you suppose to achieve equal repel (rotor first N pole -> stator first N pole) and attract forces (rotor first N pole -> stator steel) not to brake the gained momentum and at the same time the stator 2nd N pole starts attracting rotor steel too.
Also at this phase now that the rotor has advanced there should be again an equal repel-attract force requirement between rotor N pole -> stator 2nd N pole and stator N pole -> rotor steel. Now it seems the gain obtained at the first attract-in rotor movement is THE gain in the setup. Can you agree with this analysis?

Of course this should be built and tested, it should give the final answer...

That pretty much sums it up.

I understand that the first thing in rotation is that the steel will want to stick to the first stator magnet, I'm going to place magnets in such a way on the stator and armature that the rotation hopefully won't stop.

It will take awhile to build this since I work full time but when it's completed I will post my findings!
