Please BAN and remove all posts from user cletushowell
« on: August 17, 2010, 01:50:53 PM »
Stefan Hartmann or moderator, could you please BAN cletushowell and remove all his posts from the threads.
Have a look. It's just rubbish.
http://www.overunity.com/index.php?action=profile;area=showposts;u=24037

He's either an automated bot, using the worst translation program ever or just fooling with us.
But there's also the possibility he's a complete nutcase cluttering our threads, while giggling crazy.

I have to agree.

---

Also the users that repeatedly post the "WOW power leveling"
and "World of Warcraft" posts who simply plagiarize existing
internet text and inject certain phrases into it should be banned
as automatically as possible.

They need to be forced to innovate and come up with new, random stuff.  :-*

I also agree, he was posting his rubbish on the VTA topic and almost killed a page when I told him he was full of $hit.

Stefan,

This (SMF 2.0 RC1.2 / PortaMx v0.961-1)
"Bulletin Board" software must have
the ability for a report/ignore feature.

Please enable it.

We sure could use some tool of somekind.  ;)

Another 'Bot (Web roBOT) is "metamin34",
another ClickBank "Click-" (Click-Dick).

I was unable to message you directly
in either IE of FireFox, so I posted into
all twenty of the threads to ignore them,
and to please let them fall off the daily list.

Sample + Ainslie:

Additional Phone Data:
http://www.overunity.com/index.php?topic=9572.msg251979#msg251979

Thanks for the warning CompuTutor.
Shocked to see so many posts from you
but now see why.
Surely this is something that Stefan can delete?
Regards,
Rosemary
Sorry Rosemary Ainslie for not responding
to your reference about Stefan helping,
I just wanted those posts to slide away.

I was sure he'd spot them sooner or later...

Could someone that can message him,
steer him here please, thanks.

They seem to be concetrated in this area:
http://www.overunity.com/index.php?board=16.0
I believe all twenty posts are in there...

The direct profile link for "metamin34" is:

Did anyone watch any of cletus's video's?  I think he is sincere in trying to learn and IS building things but probably a lot closer to 'one flew over the cuckoo's nest' than most of us here.

the following post, is addressed only to myself. as i am fond of typing out loud...........

it would be constructive, if stephan added a feature, where user A, could make all of the posts of user B, invisible to user A. so that user B will only be silenced, to the extent that other posters, do not like user B's posts.

that way, people who are interested in user B's posts, may take whatever use they can, from user B's posts. where user A, will no longer have an excuse, to squeal like a kicked swine, when user A willingly reads something, from another poster, whom user A does not like. in addition to user A, no longer having an excuse, to cluttering up the boards, with non-constructive complaining, about not liking a post, which they willingly read.

cletushowell obviously has something similar to dyslexia. but like "some" of us, he is trying to express, what he honestly thinks. cletushowell deserves a chance, to express what he honestly thinks. just like everyone else deserves a chance, to have an automatic forum feature, to automatically do for them, what their voluntary common sense, is not capable of doing.
namely, ignoring posts from someone, whom they do not like. just as i do my best, to ignore stomach-acid-corrosive posts, which are far below the pH level that is safe, for your monitors screen, to be smeared with.

highly acidic attitudes, need to be banned, long before the free exchange of idea's, needs to be banned. highly acidic attitudes, also need to be banned, long before a dyslexic person with some very sloppy paragraph-structuring, needs to be banned.

sweet allah the merciful, wishes me a very alkaline day. as i was addressing only myself, and no one else.

11:11 , While I know you were only talking to yourself I totally agree.  The problem is the limitation of this type of forum software.  If it was vBulletin it would all be a lot easier on everyone but unfortunately vB software is fairly expensive whereas SMF (used here) is free to use.

For those that don't want to follow that.

1 - Click "Profile" on the "Home >>> Logout"
menu set at the top of this (Or any) page.

When you arrive at your own profile area,
the standard left frame will still be there,
and a large right frame for information display.

But there will now be a center frame
with two master selections of links:
"Profile Info"
"Modify Profile"

2 - Select "Personal Messaging" from
the lower "Modify Profile" grouping.

3 - Enter users names there,
use enter for a new line for more nick's.

If Wilby's observations are correct,
it will not only block PM's,
but hide thread posts too.   ;)

That way,
posts like what the topic of this thread is about
don't get unduly censored from all to see and enjoy,
and are still present for others amusement still ...

This is a wonderful development,
even if it is not as easy as an "Ignore" button
like in other "Paid" software referenced,
it is worth the little bit of work
to produce the desired results !

But above I asked for both an "Ignore" button,
AND a "Report" button too, for us to use to bring
attention to/for Stefan about 'Bot attacks quickly.

Because "Ignore" doesn't aid in the newer forum threat
of mindless/endless 'Bot posting overload like "metamin34".

It will still chew-up the daily ledger (Home page) until reported.

Still,
even the most improbable declaration by one,
might inspire a worthwhile thought in another.

Oh, and TY Wilby, but I thought it was RTFM ?

I had an old Magnavox VCR that was a jinglish nightmare.
(Japanese >to> English (Usually bad) translation)

It had our hero "SuperMan" sitting cross-legged
on the floor with the VCR manual in his hand.

The caption:
"When all else fails, RTFM"

The translators were not aware of that acronym...

Hope that gets a laugh, it did from me at the time.

@all

With respect to all , i think a warning should be enough for now ...

People have a hard time understanding that what makes sense to them is never easy to explain to others and great care should be taken not to be made into a crazy person , he tried to illustrate something quite familiar to him self but really removed from most peoples optic .

Sometimes asking some one to give more detail of clues is not a bad thing.

People need some attention to shine , and give out all the needed information to share there reality , and other times its ist ...

Ist and Cletus are both calming to be reincarnation , who are you really ?

If you did know would you not tell ?

What if its only the second or third we have seen , but comes along many others , and start to arbitrarily turn them around ?

Give the guy a chance to wise up .

Note on AWFUL spelling many time my spelling got changed after posting ?

If you have a computer reading the internet for content , ist would not be a treat because the computer doesn't even get close to it Ex Mac...

Be careful before trowing stone , ask question demand clear answers !

@ cletus

Welcome ! to yOU !

the report function for threads exists, but appears to be disabled at the present time, the report function for pm's is currently active. my guess would be the cry babies abused the report function for threads and stefan got tired of reading through piles of frivolous 'reports' on a daily basis. you can try pleading your case to stefan...

I see your point, bet your right too.
TY

Maybe if he relabelled it
"Report Spam ONLY"
or just "SPAM"

I'll shutup and wait for our hero to respond now.  :D

Wilby is 100% correct.  You can "ignore" all of the posts of any user by putting them on block for pm's.

Stefan is on a well deserved vacation traveling around Europe as we speak.  I have advised him on the many bot situations as well as the poster you have mentioned.

Rest assured, this type of behavior will not be tolerated here on OU.

I did take the time to look at his videos.  As random as they are there could be something to what he is doing.

My vote is to leave cletushowell alone as long as he just posts his idea in his thread Can some explain how to tune oscilation from tesla 369 earthquake 2 power

There are others that post in a similar way as cletushowell and they aren't banned.

Just my 2 cents.
