Browser Crashing only on OU forum last 2 days ?
« on: June 19, 2010, 05:13:36 PM »
The last couple days I can't seem to get on the forum here without my browser crashing.  It completely closes without warning.  I've tracked it down to being related to Java script.  If I disable Java and Java script it does not crash.  I've noticed in this same time frame a new popup here that is a small green square in the upper right corner that repeatedly pops up as some sort of Ad.  When I disabled Java that no longer shows up so I suspect this may be the culprit.
   Anyone else having this problem?

I am not having any problems like that.  What browser are you using?  I use firefox with adblock and no script and all is well.

Just block - http://clicksor.com -  - http://chitika.com -  - http://kontera.com - - http://infolinks.com - in your browser pref.

thanks darkspeed.  It was clicksor.com that was causing the crashes here in Opera.  I had figured that out and don't know why I didn't think about blocking it as I had just been disabling Java when I came here.  PITA but all is fine now   ;)

I guess you're not using Linux then - I have the latest Opera Beta installed and it crashes every 5-10mins, it's laughable!  The very fact that Opera still hasn't a stable (non-Beta) 10.5+ Linux release sums it up really!  I've had to switch to Firefox almost exclusively for the first time in a decade...

Firefox is the way to go for this site, and many others.  No probs on this end since I switched 3 years ago.

Gosh e2matrix,
Im glad you found the
clicksor to be the "One".

Many of us use older equipment to access OU,
I ahve FireFox V2.0.02 which is the last of the
Version 2.0 form ta that operates on my platforms.

I have had to block 163 "Advertisers"
even though I would gladly allow "click"
money for the cause here !

I don't balme Stefan AT ALL for this,
advertisers are whores by nature.

I still omit most threads I see
because they are to wide to read
due to FireFox 2.x incompatibilty.

Sprocket, what version of FF
does your Linux support,
and if your open to the question
what mold and vintage please, thanks ?

Thanks
