i didn't confirm anything for you. its energy is neither "wasted nor adsorbed"... ::) it is transformed in the resistor into heat. quit being stupid.

Here is a video showing another circuit that will work with smaller coils and higher voltages.

This one is kinda a Stiffler Slayer hybrid.

I just used some coils I had sitting around.So with some different coil configurations it should work great.
Also I haven't tried any coils off the collector yet.

i know a few people have used water with their exciters. has anyone ever tried a larger amount than a glass? like a lake?

yes, the body of water i was using had approximately an 18 inch layer of ice on it.

I ordered some surplus fly back transformers, therefore I am very interested in your circuit. I like the idea to light a CFL from an AAA battery. It always catches the attention of onlookers.

It is almost impossible to reconstruct your circuit from the video. I would like to ask you to post a photo of a simple hand drawing of your circuit (schematics).

Great idea to remove the core of the HV-transformer, that increases the frequency and the step up rate still seems to be good enough. Do you hear any singing or screeching when your circuit is on?

I also saw that the spiral type CFLs are specially good for such experiments (they seem to ignite easier than the U-shaped tubes). But they are difficult to find in the stores nowadays, they where more common when the CFL-area began a few years ago.

Kooler nice job with the flyback.

In this video I added a coil to the collector of the transistor.And also added a indicator light with a led from the emitter to the base of the transistor.

I'm thinking this would work very good with Dr Stifflers NIFL setup.

here is the schematic..
it is like the tiny tesla coil that emdevices done a few year ago and like the simple slayer circuit.. .. oh there is no noise coming from the transformer.. the cfl seem brighter and consumes less ma's when hooked back to the pos..

i was to lazy to wind a large tesla type coil so i thought if this works then ppl could just use old flyback coils
this was my first slayer type circuit i have built.. and this isn't the proper way to build from his current specs
but i figured it may help ppl that didn't have alot of magnet wire to spare..

Thank you for posting the circuit. I am awaiting 10 surplus fly back transformers (from PC monitors, each of them a bit different) any day now and will try to replicate your circuit.

I really like the 1 Volt power supply.
