hey, just joined the forum so if i post in the wrong categories i apologise.

Does anyone know any good websites that has information about the different types of coils, how they work and their different characteristics etc?

any help would be appreciated, thanks

You may want to give this answer a few days, this website sees it's most visitors on the weekdays - strangely.

For now though, there are several uncharacterized hybrids coils out there:
The Rodin Coil
...
come to think of it, that's the only one I know has a name, there's some fancy coils in the Joule Thief Thread area.

Hopefully another member of two will elaborate.

Tesla coil.
Double helix coil.
Pancake coil.
Wave wound coil.


Hope this helps, i'm sure there are more.
