Dam power...
« on: March 02, 2010, 07:56:55 PM »

....interpolation,insertion as a main spare part as a possible classic PM,it's not a surprise.

All that we need ,is to look carefully and to think about the evolution of the systems, that use the gravity power.

Some early hydroelectric systems, used the the natural flow of water over an existing waterfall, with no dam needed.

Dam is a barrier build across flowing water,in order to hold it back (as a reservoir or lake)to store the potential energy.

Potential energy of stored water is directly proportional to its "head" (height).

The "rhythm" of energy is :firstly,we must build up the "head" ,so that the dam must be ready to carry out the second step,to release the power.

So,we need a "dam effect" and a certain "tempo"...?!

.....as a way of thinking, about the use of gravity power, can be introduced in the topic of this forum,if we take into consideration,an Atwood machine with a heavy pulley, and we make a transfer, move from this simple machine ,to another one (Archimede's lever).

So,PM can be a simple machine also, with a small "addenda" (things to be added)...

....or "head" height of the hydropower systems,is an evolutive development,to collect the gravity ability to do an useful work.

It's the tempo, rhythm and "life" of natural energy systems:charge (long time)-discharge(short time).

The "head" power (gravitational potential ) is "up" ,but we collect the pressure of liquid storage,at the lower position,in a discontinuous succession of time.

If the agent, thing carrying a similar process,is a solid state one, the "the water design",needs a certain  "transfer"...shape change.

The "unseen" support of storage is gravity height...
