Why cant Microsoft make a stable OP system
« on: December 07, 2009, 07:26:13 PM »
Had to recover lost years of research. My fault should have backed up.
I dont understand why they come out every year with a new system instead of fixing the one they have.

Why cant Microsoft make a stable OP system?

Easy, because Macrodaft is more 'motivated' to write 'code' for it's Customer than for it's customers.

Plain and simple.

The joy of realizing a truly massively parallel network computer via millions of home pc's with high speed internet is too good for TPTB to pass up.  After awhile, those too backward or primitive to become or remain 'tentacleized" are viewed as a threat to big bad momma hydra.

Why should the they pay to debug their software past a certain point...when
their users will do it for them for free, repeatedly?

I also don't like that you can rebuild a computer but you cannot purchase
the obsolete operating software that runs on it.

I am not a lover of Microsoft but you should take responsibilty for your own decisions. I believe you can even have fault tolerant computers with RAID technology with MS operating system.

Having said that, I have lost a disk in the past too and it is annoying.

They can't make it stable, because then there would be no computer repair shops with 'engineers' certified in MS-this-or-that-and-its-1.618x10^50-versions-thereof.

They get money for a certification of a product, each version is a new certificate, this is how they're printing money.

It's bullshit really.  It's also a demonstration of capitalistic over-unity.  Something from nothing.

There. You have it. Over-Unity Under-Performing Software. MS-OUUPS, "we did it again"

if it was up to me bill gates would have no nuts.. not saying he really does

i'd cut the left one off for making windows ME

then i cut the right for making vista...

i've worked on pc's since 98
i always intergrate my drivers in to my os disc.. raid, display, sound etc....
and a external hard drive to back up once a month..
you never should trust a computer... they still make paper and pens
thats were my research goes

sorry for being bold

I hate to be blunt, but you simply do not know what you are talking about.  If your operating system became corrupt, your data should be retrievable by mounting the hard drive to another PC or to a USB adapter.

If your entire hard drive has become inaccessible, this is not the fault of the operating system.  Hard drives fail.  There are hardware RAID cards, and Windows supports software RAID as well.  You failed to take proper precautions against hardware failure, and this is hardly Microsoft's fault.

I am satisfied with the systems, although the company has lost sight of the objective with Vista and "7".  (ME was a fiasco!  Vista was the same.)  Windows 7 has me "More than worried" with it's unusual (and Hidden, by the way...) networking functions.

LOL....they've had 'unusual' networking functions since windows 3.1 for work groups.

They've never lost sight of their objective because "the objective" was never theirs to begin with.....

but the guys' over at skunk-net.

Why cant Microsoft make a stable OP system

1. "It is difficult to get a man to understand something when his salary depends upon his not understanding it." (Sinclair) In other words: because they wont.

2. The world is ruled by interests and not wishes. They could live from wishes but couldn't harvest.

3. They want to harvest.

4. They sold it as a cheap s. 20 years ago to get the world bite the bait and build their standards, their life on it. We did and today they harvest as whoever built on it is forced into the corner.

5. They don't want us to leave the corner. (see why: #3)

6. Every industrilists greatest fear is an industrial revolution and they are able to do ANYTHING tho prevent that by suppressing everything that could release the sheep from their corner.

7. A stable operating system would cause industrial revolution.

Yes. If they had stuck to one product and got it better and better, then it would
be dependable.

Linux has done just that. This is why, apparently, NASA uses it. They are not
happy to be getting the "Blue screen of Death" as the shuttle requires its
glide angle to land.

Anyone remember the Google / MS fight over yahoo? ..

Both of them are wanting to switch to on-demand computing.

In other words, they want to put a terminal in your house, and the storage in theirs - presumably, so they can do whatever they want to with it, whenever they want, and for whatever reason.

It's the modern fleecing of talent, harvesting of data, monitoring of your attention span, run-of-the-mill " your an employ, but we're not going to pay you, and we owe you no obligations" ..and for all intensive purposes, the voluntary nature is no more; it is obligatory - because this is how we're going to develop software now, and if you want to access you older files, then you'll have to buy a newer version, and you're going to have to pay for it...

I actually don't see that last bit happening, there's been too much fuss over file format.
PS, this is an extreme not-so-likely view of software future.

People have a right to be secure in their belongings and possessions.  I interpret this as way of life ( their belonging, whether it be one way or many ) and the things which they own.  Barring, of course, the interpretation of either being legal drifting so far from reasonable.

What, the shuttle isn't running CE?

I remember using ALL version of windows, except the latests.  With certainty, on windows 95, 98, ME, NT, 2000...I could crash the computer from the start menu, executing NO commands at the command prompt in under 1 minute...just by simply opening programs.  THAT is how stable windows was. ..there was no amount of anti-virus security that could outrun network worms on a 56K connection - windows just couldn't download a patch fast enough, if you were unprotected, your system would be infected from the get go.  ( hindsight is 20/20 though )...this is probably the reason I had to reinstall so many times.
