i have the same disapproval of the grid.
a study by the department of the interior found that 25% of the golden eagle mortalities in the study were caused by electrocution.

i'm curious as to the percentage of vulture mortality caused by windmills, do you have any data on that?

A custom designed low power radar (one unit per windfarm) might be produced
to track birds and idle affected turbines. Variable pitch blades could create a
flow pattern that would push birds away from the moving the blades.

So, raptors can spot a field mouse at 500 yards, but a huge wind turbine is like super ninja blade of doom?  At this late date, I think it's prudent to let birds continue the practice of self determination....We've got bigger fish to fry.

We're talking whales, here.

Animals are remarkably dumb when it comes to understanding the threat
from nonnatural objects. While driving in remote areas, they seem to
sense danger but their strategy is to rush across the road at the
very last second. I think they sense that the vehicle as being alive
itself and so expect it will sidestep them...Wrong! This happens so much
that they have little ultrahigh frequency whistles that one installs only
so the animals hears it to repel them away.

A Magpie had a close shave with my car windscreen a couple of hours ago. My natural instinct is dropping the anchors, but I think we all have that instinct within us, although some people dictate how dangerous it can be, and they normally say "just hit the thing !"

So if the US puts up a bunch of turbines along the Canada border, they can kill a bunch of birds with viruses, cool.
