..Especially countries like Iraq ad Iran.   They'll probably use our financial problems against us any way they can.

(snip to end of post)
triffid and all others,
Speaking of Iraq in the immediate post above, Mosul Dam in Iraq is about ready to burst, and if it does:  500,000 people are in the path of an inland 'tidal wave' to the Persian Gulf.
Look at these:
       https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mosul_Dam
       http://english.alarabiya.net/en/News/middle-east/2016/03/14/Engineers-race-to-stop-collapse-of-massive-Mosul-dam.html

A disaster like this might have unpredictable effects on the economy of Southwest Asia and nearby regions, as well.   Baghdad would be badly damaged, at the very least.   Outlying political/religious/economic adversaries or enemies might be encouraged to do unknown thing to possibly take advantage of an unstable situation.
Who, what, when, where and why?   I admit this is speculation, but if the dam breaks, it'll be something I've only see once in my life:  The Baldwin Hills Dam Disaster.

       https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baldwin_Hills_Dam_disaster
I was a teenager in Southern Calif. when the news broke and the local news services covered the developing story in real time.   I never forgot the experience.   People weren't killed in astounding numbers, but the damage to Baldwin Hills downstream was, say, hundreds of millians

FMI (For My Information), I finally figured out---absolutely; proof positive---why the S.F. building is specifically happening.   The tech boom in the South Bay and "Silicon Valley" continues to this day.   Thousands of 'yuppies' (as it were), have come to the Bay Area and S.F. looking for work.
(My Dad was an engineer and he did the same thing in Southern Calif., having moved there from Seattle.   It's stupid to me.   The building construction companies probably borrowed a real, actual fortune to pay for construction, but what then?!?   The average wage earner isn't participating in the economic recovery and they're the ones who outnumber the speculators, cops and National Guard.   It's been predicted that this is another building 'bubble'that will collapse like others did before it.
The building boom and the speculation following it are the reasons people are being displaced by staggering rent increases and condo renovations---and the like.   Displacement of the elderly is about a death sentence for some of the oldest if they're on the streets.   In 10-15 years, middle aged seniors on the streets will be dying from exposure to the outdoor 'elements'.
The city managers of S.F. know this, but the real estate speculators don't care at all that people are suffering.   The speculators aren't suffering, so that really don't give a (middle finger flip)---the most polite way I thought I could put it.

As further proof that this worldwide economic problem hasn't gone away, take a look at this:

       http://www.telegraph.co.uk/business/2016/04/13/world-faces-lost-year-as-policymakers-sleepwalk-towards-fresh-cr/

Yeah, right.   The Chinese, as I said before, want what they can't have:  Economic control of the world's resources---as much as possible (AMAP).   So, it's coming again and it'll probably be worse than last time.   Gain as much independence as possible, in as many ways as possible.   Your life might depend on it if everything 'goes to hell', as the adage goes.

This week on public tv(9-1 here in st.louis,mo) I watched Nova's video"The Wandering Lions of India".It appears that a daring new experiment is underway in the Gir National Forest. It seems that Lions and people are coexisting outside of the Park's boundaries. If a lion wanders into town or village its no big deal.Other wildlife are wandering into town also.As long as lions are not killing people they are left alone(they are watched however).A cow once in a while is killed. But its considered no big deal.If this idea spreads throughout the world it could be that man and wildlife can coexist in much tighter quarters.Than any of us had thought in the past.triffid

I believe that seniors should own their own homes to avoid being thrown out on the streets. Those who owned their own homes during the great depression of the 1930s suffered a lot less than those who did not.Forget the reverse mortgages.Don't borrow against your security.triffid

Sorry, I made a mistake "Nature" not" Nova" aired" India's Wandering Lions". Last night on public tv here(9-1)"Nova" aired" Wild Ways"."Wild ways" is about how we are striving to connect large parks together so that our wildlife can be preserved.Very interesting. There are plans in the works to connect Yellowstone Park with three or four national parks in Canada so wildlife will have a 6000 mile stretch of land to roam in.There are similar plans all other the world.Maybe mankind and wild animals can exist together for the next few thousand years together? The show featured highways that allow wild animals to cross in safety. Both overpasses and underpasses.Which are cheaper to build than to endure the loss of human and wildlife lives which occur as animals try to cross the road. Not to mention damage to vehicles.triffid

Hey triffid,
Things continue to go downhill economically here in S.F.    More and more small businesses fold and, for the most part, their former business properties sit vacant months and months.   I don't see how people don't notice this happening, unless they live month-to-month and don't care about anything else.   Putting food on the table and paying rent---and THAT'S it.  If that's the case, I understand.       I think the subject of this thread becomes more and more relevant every day.

       There's something I've noticed:
Look at this...

China Stock Market Crisis  News

Now, the thing i see is that there were more articles about the Chinese economy in the past than now.   Only two, now.   I ask myself, "Why is this?"    Is there something bad happening to China or Asia?
As it is, the American economy is still grinding to a slow halt.   I don't think there's anything that will help, here.   Debt loads are reaching crisis levels in the near-to-intermediate future.   Then it all stops for a LONG time.

It appears that Donald Trump is an anti-globalist. If he gets elected this will have a profound effect on the New world order.

Right, guys---a.king21 & Dog-One---I like your attitudes.   Reminds me of me.   Trump is probably a 'hawk' and would reasonably be expected to bring the Iowa class battleships out of 'mothballs' .   They're the only ships I can think of that can take a hit from a large, very fast cruise, anti-shipping missile and still be able to fight a battle while the crew contends with damaging hull fires, as needed.  The weakest part of the ship is the powder magazine.   If that's hit by a missile, the bow or stern cold be blown off.
(I'm doing naval engineering for a commercial concern---classified.)

As for Clinton, many in politics don't want a woman for president.   Frankly, both parties are out for their own agendas and neither one really represents the public who elected them.   They're all crooks, IMHO.

In view of the info. above (my doing research), I came across this:

http://squibnews.com/2016/02/07/isis-worried-american-sniper-chris-kyles-ghost-is-killing-their-top-commanders/

Chris Kyles was the record holding sniper in the Middle East while he was serving in the military.   (He still works in the field to keep focus on the importance of his exploits---and is probably a pro at it as well.)

ISIS is so scared of this guy, they 're giving up rather than certainly being shot by whoever is doing this---other than Kyles.
I'm glad to see it.
