Help on Bedini device construction step by step

As I stated on my other posts I will like to build one of this machines. But I need help on it.

For what I seen in pictures and drawings it is a very simple machine, so I do not think it will be difficult to build.

As RC modeller I already have lot of resources that may be needed:
Motors, neo magnets, speed regulators, raw materials, batteries, tools, etc...

I have seen in many places that most of you face problems about determination if batteries are charged, discharged, half charged and so on, in my case that is not a problem as I am in the battery business so I am surrounded of battery analyzers and similar computerised devices, so measuring this I think will not be a big issue.

About money I do not think that to build a simple unit will be too expensive as probably most of the physical resources I already have them in-house.

Knowledge of electrics and mechanics I think I am OK

About electronics I am very lost, but I think can involve my brother on this project and he is better than me on that...

Here is the plan, please revise it and let me know your thoughts:

Definition of the design:

I have seen that some of the Bedini machines are powered by a motor; I will like to do it that way as I think this will simplify the electronics, let me know if I am correct.
I suppose that probably this in not the most efficient way of doing it but the looses of this system will be taken in account on the testing.

I will post the design before building it for your consideration.


In 2 or 3 days the device can be built in our workshop.


I will use Lithium Polymer batteries as I have them handier that lead batteries and they have the benefit of having a 95% efficiency on charging process.
For running the motor, I will use an 11,1V 1200mAh battery; capacity of this particularly battery will be defined at 1C discharge.
The battery to be charged by the device will be an 11,1V 5000mAh capacity charged will be measured at 1C discharge.

Measuring tools:

Running motor battery capacity and how much capacity the device is able to charge in the charging battery, will be measured with a computerised battery analyzer that give us exact capacity of the battery by a controlled discharge.

Between the battery that runs the motor and the device a computerised power analyzer will be installed that will give us in real time battery V, A, Ah and Wh

Between the charging battery and the device no power analyzer will be installed as I think there will be current pulses that will give us incorrect data and the device probably will break working on that conditions. Any way a voltmeter will be installed in order to control that the battery does not overcharge and boooom? :o that will be really good?

First works test:

First I will test if it turns and such? ;D

Power looses will be defined this way:
The device will be run with a battery at 11,4V (medium discharge voltage under load of the battery I plan to use) with no coil installed and current will be measured that way. (looses)
The current draw measured this way will correspond to:
- Looses on the running motor, cables etc...
- Friction looses on the bearings.
- Air friction on the wheel.
- Other looses of the system.

After that, coil will be installed with open circuit and current will be measured again (looses+drag)

Next step will be to install the electronics and the charging battery and measure again (looses+drag+work)

Experiment itself:

An empty 11,1V 5000mAh battery will be installed as charging battery.
A fully charged 11,1V 1200mAh battery will be connected to the running motor.

The device will be started and let it run until running motor battery is empty (9V)
During the running time V, A, Ah, Wh of the running battery and V of the charging battery will be recordered. (looses+drag+work)

After that, charging battery will be disconnected from the device and a capacity stored will be measured with a controlled discharge on a battery analyser. (charge)


If charge > (drag+work-looses) / 95% then will mean that this device works.

Please let me know what you think about this project, and if you see any hole or something that is not correct?

Now what I need, is plans and electronic schema of the Bedini motor, I Have seen too many of them in the web and I do not know witch one to choose, please help me on that?
About the electronic schema think that I want to run the device with an electric motor so no need impulse the wheel with the coil?

If you want to start with the simplified "bedini Energizer" you sould start with the exemple i send to you.
And do not use NEO magnet, cause they are too strong and the coil becomes saturate and you will cook your transistor.
Use ceramic magnet. At the beginning i used the roller skater wheel as it shows in the diagram. It is working very good   i can get more than 2000 rpm with this set up.
1-  Roler skate wheel = ceramic magnet 5/8 to 3/4 diameter
2-  Coil = 500 turns of wire # 23 and 26  around  the spool
3-  Transistor  = 2n 3055 or tip 31 to 33
4- Diode = you can use 1n 914 or 1n 4001 or higher

Try to make the energizer run at first and then you can add battery for recharging.

Note: if you want to hook a battery for recharging you have to have the same batteriy impedance  for both/
