core - i recommend these: http://cgi.ebay.com/Toroid-Ferrite-Cores-M2000NM-44x27x8-USSR-89-QTY-12-/310217966008?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item483a6e81b8

you will need 19 to 24 of them, but 12 for tests are great

Cosmo,

I can't find these Toroid Ferrite Cores M2000NM 44x27x8 (USSR-89).

Is there any other size and quantity that would work as well as these?

Thank you,
DonL

if you have anaglyph glases Red-Green (red on left side)
there can bee seen interesting things how are connected bobbins with TeslaCoils ;)

Magic answer is GLAS.

But if you look at all Kapanadze coil (even a small coil at Cosmos pictured), in each of them is paramagnetics material.

Polymer clay, polyurethane foam ...

@dllabarre
Check this link for large toroid unit. You get 2 glued togheter, I have used them for many experiments.

I got out the 10kV transformer and used it on the HV side.
It almost completely killed the magnetic field.
The compass just barely moves.
The spark gap was so loud I couldn't hear any change in pitch.

So someplace between 2kV and 10kV is a good number.
Cosmo said 4kV is enough and it appears he correct again!  8)

Hey Don,

Can you specify your setup? Can you provide photos and some rough figures outlining the experiment? After all it is an experimental thread. (apart from theoretic)

Be warned.  It's nothing like the quality builds you produce.  :)

@dllabarre

On the schematic there are two cable connextions missing.
The coil has a bifilar winding and a single winding that adds to 6 wires to be connected. There are only four shown.

On the picture I state "using red".
I'm only using 1 side of bifilar winding.

I also am starting my shopping , I believe any ferrite with approx dimensions and permeability will work out fine , no need to panic .

One thing I notice is that the magnetic field is extended by this shielding , perhaps both concentrated at a specific point . Im having a hard time imagining how the fields loop around to their other end , its all weird ....

There is a pdf called rhytmodynamics , I suggest everyone read chapter 1 to 3 , its very well illustrated and can be followed by anyone willing to put the effort . I think it gives a tiny bit of insight into what might be happening .

Hello, entuziasts!
It is not the way. Your search is nothing more than "ozon".
You have no answer- What is making COP=125!
Yes- COP= 125!
You don`t know. Because No One Knows!
I can do sparks, it means- we are little boy`s on weekend- we are spark`ling.
We have SPARKS!
That`s all!
SR193 have COP about 10.
If he not make "Abra- cadabra", than (in his words) he take transformer with ferrite core and make some tricks with HF and LF interference and result is COP=10.
I dont like ideas laike- I know, but You are too bad for GOD`s Love and You must eat shit and You must pray for sin`s forgiving... .
P.S. Don`t be idiots!
If machine work- it work!
Nothing more!
Be happy!

I don't know.

At first I thought he was just a loon but the line about interfering HF with LV is dead on. Also another thing that makes sense is that SR's device, contrary to what Cosmo says is not even in the same ballpark with Tariels. I believe Tariels device is unlimited and SR's is very limited.

Somehow I just can't see how Tariel gets 5KW out of that small green box and Cosmo and SR (perhaps) can only pull off 400watts? Something does not sound right to me. It appears that everyone, including our Russian counterparts, are being 'pushed' into doing it the SR way. Every thread everywhere that has been started about Tariel's device has been directed toward using ferrite rings and the SR method, why? SR has never built a 5KW unit out of scrap wire and I bet he doesn't use a steak knife as a wire cutter and stripper. I don't think I even saw a solder joint on Tariels device.

Why are we going in this direction??????

Respectfully,

Core

BTW - Found some great hi-voltage drivers on the internet. In the process of building them as I type.

Simple. Because anything greater than about 150% can be scaled up to meet demand, maybe even 125%. At 10x you would be drowning in power.

And for what it's worth, this approach to using ferrite is probably the least efficient way it can be done...but...done properly this way, it will provide it's OU on a spark by spark basis without any resonance requirements. I'm still thinking the more efficient way would be to use a tuned high Q secondary, it's just much harder to build.

Changing subject...I have played quite a bit with various coil configurations on the inside of the ferrite. I feel all kinds of vibrations in the ferrite...but I cannot get any real power in any coil configuration. Really wish Cosmo would enlighten us further...

Somewhere along the line there is a process of mixing two waves a High and low voltage to make on. Flip back about 15 to 20 pages and I think you will see what I mean. Until we get to that point I don't think you will see any power amplification. But you do have an amazing hot dog cooker. :)

I would like to know if Cosmo also gets a amp reading on his ground wire. It looks like, and maybe I saw it wrong, that Tariel was getting 22 amps on the ground wire. Maybe I saw the wrong wire. How would that work with a GFI?
