Hi Zeitmaschine, This is very interesting, just an application. But a quick glance tells it's worth the read.
Not sure if I will have any opinion. But I do have an open mind. Thanks for posting this.

Cheers

Itsu, about Nano Pulser.

The same rules are for Nano Pulser and Master Oscillator on TL494. Pulsing ferrite core can be done with High Speed Bipolar Transistor, MOSFET or High Voltage - High Speed Thyristors. Insted of КТ926 use 2SC3264e Bipolar Transistor.

For diode use ДДРВ diodes like КД203А, КД204, 2Д210А, 2Д210Б, КД210A, КД210Б, ДЛ 132-50. Equivalent diode exist.

Some diodes which can be used:

Дрейфовы диод с резким восстановлением запираюших свойств ДДРВ - Drift Step Recovery Diodes DSRD

Диод с задержкой лавинного пробоя ДЗЛП  Diode - Avalanche S diodes ASD

КД204А   -> 400Ð’  0.4А
КД226Д   -> 800Ð’  1.7А
КД230Г   -> 1000Ð’ 3.0А
КД220Г   -> 1000Ð’ 6.0А
дл112-16 -> 1500В 16А
ДЛ132-50 -> 1500В 50А
Ð’2-320    -> 1200Ð’ 320А
ДЛ123-320 -> 1200В 320А
Д133-400  -> 2400 400А
ДЧ143-800 -> 1400В 800А
Д143-400  -> 2400Ð’ 800А

Ferrite core like this
http://lib.chipdip.ru/180/DOC000180200.jpg

Ferrite core is small 7mm Ð¥ 4 mm Ð¥ 2 mm ferrite ring with permeance 6000НМ or 3000.  You can use bigger fettite with the same permeance like 16mm x 10mm x 4.5 mm. The more permeance is better coz core loses are smaller. Core ring must be cooled by RADIATOR OF TRANSISTOR OR THYRISTOR. THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTAND PART. Seal it up when you finish with winding and trimming or glue it on radiator. Wire need to be teflon insulated (for high temperature) PTFE wire or similar quality wire for high temperature. Use 0.35mm or smaller diameter.

It's important to be used High Voltage Impulse unipolar Capacitors with good dielectrics like X5P, X5U, X5V, X7R, Z5P, Z5U etc.

Look for capacitors here:

http://hvca.ru/assets/docs/Door_knob.pdf
http://hvca.ru/assets/docs/cap_class1.pdf
http://hvca.ru/assets/docs/NY3.pdf
http://hvca.ru/assets/docs/cap_class2.pdf

Here are some schematics of Nano Pulsers. Schematics are tested and work well. If you can't make it it mean you have made some mistake. So check your Nano Pulser again !!
You need good wideband oscillograph with big trigger capability to catch sharp impulse in nano and piko range. Use quality HV oscillograph probe 1000:1 for measuring kVolt pulses. This is most important part for Oscillograph in HV power electronics so don't complain on his price coz he will save your Oscillograph and also save you from lot of headache.

Diode bridge need to be good quality and storage capacitors too.

Master oscillator on TL494CN is standard like in many AT - ATX power supplies. Use big heat sinks for output transistors.

And last find a broad copper stripe for Good and Quality Ground. This is Most Important coz device don't work without Ground!!

ps. Save your Owon Oscillograph Itsu, buy a HV probe !! I wish you luck. Take care !!

I think this is simply a method of magnifying the effects of the energy input over a longer time
by building it up in "waves" while no load is drawn, then switching the load in and allowing more
energy to dissipate in the load in the same time "relatively" than the energy that could be dissipated
in the load by one electromagnetic wave.

He's storing up some energy in waves and putting it through the load in a shorter time frame,
eg. using arbitrary figures, he can store up in waves, say 10 Watts for 10 seconds
and put into the load 100 Watts for 1 second with not much losses. This way he can power
the load with 100 Watt pulses or surges using 10 Watts input by storing it up in
waves. That's how I read it anyway. The figures I just made up as an example.
Whereas with just the load exposed to the waves continuously the maximum would be 10 Watts or something
the numbers are not important.

Quote
Abstract:
(EN)The inventive method for generating energy by means of electromagnetic waves represents a process when electromagnetic waves emitted by one or several radiators operate into one load, or being previously accumulated in a storage are transferred to said load. During the generation process, the amplitudes of electromagnetic waves are combined in the load, the energy of electromagnetic field being a non-additive value is proportional to the square of the total amplitude of a field. Therefore, the energy released in the load is greater than the energy of each individual incident electromagnetic wave. Said load is disposed in the location of the in-phase combining of electromagnetic waves.

Cheers

 No, in fact you want heavy current coils in the rotor. There is two reasons for that. ...

Hi jbignes5,

if I correctly remember the toroid transformer increase frequency two times. At this point is not possible direct loop to input. If I'm wrong let me know.

@a.king21,some questions,the heater in the video,was it rated for 2kw,220 vac.
Did it have a fan, some heaters have fans to distrubite the heated air,I live in the US and don't know anything about products sold in this area of the world.Did
the heater look like it had been tampered with,I know from the video the tipover
safety was in tact,thanks.

I will help you with replication.

Thanks for your offer, you already answered many questions, great.
I am following the forum (translated) on http://realstrannik.ru

I will finish my first coil today and start some measurements on it, then dive into your supplied information and order some parts  :-)
Its obviously no sunday afternoon project, so can take a while.

Thanks for the encouragement T, but as i already was experimenting with coax cable coils, i already was intriged by this selfrunner.

I have a hard time understanding the Russian drawings/text etc, but slowly more info is coming in English.

My first attention is to the main coil, and i came up with the following info (all CW):

L1 = 820t 0.25mm on 4.6cm former (white/orange leads)
L2 = 315t 0.65mm on top of L1     (magnet wire leads to caps)
L3 =  41t 5.9m Coax cable        (probably NOT RG58 as to my knowledge RG58 is always black coated)
L4 =  72t                        (combination of brown and blue cable) not sure what thickness.

I started building my coil and use:

cardboard former 5cm:
L1 690t 0.4mm  3.3mH / 14.5 ohm
L2 380t 0.6mm  1.5mH /  0.5 ohm
L3  41t (6m) 75 ohm coax shorted at 1 end
L4  i will use 70t of some kind of wire i have laying around.

Questions for me presently are:

How to create this 1-5ns pulse (my FG generates a 80ns pulse at best)
What is the amplitude of this nano pulse (5v?, 500v?, 5Kv?)
What is the frequency/amplitude and pulse shape on the L1 coil (match the resonance frequency of L2 tank coil?)?

Video to be seen here:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MQUciCy9p3A&feature=youtu.be
I will try to get more to the point in the video's, thus shorther, in the follow ups if any.

Next will be to make some measurements on the coil when pulsed.

Regards Itsu

I think since he said it was a tesla coil before that aquired a bunch more windings.... I'm fairly sure the magnet wire is on the former first.  might be 24 gauge?

How to create this 1-5ns pulse (my FG generates a 80ns pulse at best)
It is very easy and cheap with this Avalanche Pulse Generator:
(its description is in the PDF below)

Regarding the post above:
Only the part drawn in red color is responible for generating the sub-nanosecond pulses.
The rest is the 90VDC power supply for avalanche bias (see the PDF)

Hey, look is this!
And why do you think that a 1μF 400V capacitor in series with a primary winding and a DC output of 3-20V and 0-30A is remarkable?

Hey, look is this!

The modification consists in the introduction of the potentiometers marked V and V 'for adjusting the output voltage ... ;D
and I for adjusting amperage...

And why do you think that a 100μF 400V capacitor in series with a primary winding and a DC output of 3-20V and 0-30A is remarkable?
Because output power depends of frequency and see one ATX inside and there you will see that capacitor is 1uF/400V!
