Congrats Stefan

This is light years ahead of the original...I'm thoroughly impressed with the new board.

It would be even better if thread originators had the ability to clean up their own threads.

I believe this would go a long way toward eliminating the problem of trolling and personal attacks.

Regards...

Stefan the planet background image is very CPU intensive on my pc for some reason. It make the website very slow. After I disabled it, browsing the forum got fast again.

Paul:

The WYSIWYG editor is there, all you have to do is to turn it on in your look and feel preferences from the profile menu. It is off by default.

Bill
Thanks. Does the WYSIWYG work for you? It's not working for me.

BTW, for whatever reason, if one wants to disable the background, they can use the add-on "Add block plus" (it's free) on firefox. Just right-click on the background and select "Addblock Image...", then make sure you select the outback.jpg image url.

Very nice Stefan! I especially like all the new Logos. I would hate to have to choose which is best, they are all good.

Lol, but looking at the mylow thread, i wonder if the red background is affecting peep's attitudes lately ;)

Yes, that is why I used the bold type in my message to show it works.  All I did was toggle it on in the settings section.

Is there a simple way to turn off the headache-producing red background when using IE7 & IE8?

And is there a simple way to turn off the right information panel when using IE7 & IE8?

(I recognize people hate IE, & am not asking for advice on whether to switch to something else.)

ETA:  OK, I found the blue bar to use to turn off the right information panel -- I didn't realize it only pops up right when the cursor is directly over it.  I still would like to know about the red background -- thanks.

Is it really supposed to look like this? See attached. I just see the background in blocks and all the rest is still grey.

Everyone, I think Stefan wanted a red background.

I've recolored the design to make it easier on the eyes and presented it to Stefan for consideration.

You may preview the recolored wallpaper here. Do you think this is better?

[Edit: Also, the file size is somewhat smaller than the current website wallpaper, less than 100K. Nowadays this is a very reasonable size and shouldn't cause loading delays on its own accord.]

Stefan -
Thanks as always for the work you do and for the software/forum upgrade.

For me though, the front page is not nearly as elegant/easy to read/well organized as in the past.
I do most my reading here starting from the front page.

The 2 colums makes it disorganized looking.  Showing a quote from each thread takes up a lot of space.  The original author of the thread is not listed.  And the page numbers links of the thread that I had already read used to show up as different color (red).  Now The page numbers have no distinction so I have to guess where I last left off reading.
I see the 'forum' page is still basically the same layout.

Was cool to see the avatars back (for a day)!  And what about extended formating - like underline, italics, strikeout etc... you gonna bring them back?

The previous layout of the front page was one of the best I've seen, very organized.
Might you consider styling the front page similair to what is was before?  And least go with 1 column and don't list a quote from each thread?

Thanks a bunch!   :)

Aevogels,

If you click the link for "here" in my previous post you can see the redesign. It is still red but does not have the bright yellow component. The color is Stefan's prerogative, but I can see where black text directly on top of the wallpaper may not be readable in some areas. So perhaps a neutral gray may work better or the text on top of the wallpaper can be changed. We'll see what Stefan says. I can do another redesign if needed.
