Karma system enabled, applaud or smite
« on: January 07, 2009, 01:13:01 PM »
Hi ALL,
I did now enable the Karma system in the Forum software.

This is a feature where you can vote on another user,
if you like his postings or not.

I finally enabled this, as many users complained about other
users hijacking their threads and posting totally unrelated things, etc...

The voting is anonymous, so nobody knows who has
voted positively or negatively.

So be nice and don´t abuse this feature.

If a user gets too many total negative Karma votes,
he will be put on ReadOnly mode.

Also I will enforce, that nobody will
register with a second anonymous username to play games
and tricks with other users.

So please be gentle and stay ontopic and don´t abuse the
forum. Then your Karma will also be going positive.

So this will be member based rating system of other members
and will help to ban trolls and offtopic and annoying posters.

P.S. You can only rate others, if you have already posted 20 postings,
so just registering a new account and smite  other users will not work
and if ou try to do this you also will be catched and banned this way.

Regards. Stefan. (admin)

This will help to overload the data flow.

What is needed is for the "Report to moderator" button to do something, so that
we can do something about the abusers and time wasters pushing up the data
flow and causing this:

"Connection Problems
Sorry, SMF was unable to connect to the database. This may be caused by the
server being busy. Please try again later".

Wow this feature is surely getting abused. All the serious researchers are getting negative rep. Looks like there's are an overload of hidden skeptics around.

Thanks Stefan for this feature, I applaud you. It should help so long as people don't gang together and abuse it. ... Wow, even you have two negs Stefan!  That's crazy. Who would do that.

People who seek truth while trying to find some form of evidence should stick together, but it seems already these people are getting attacked with the karma abuse. I've done my share of positive Karma clicks today.  ;D

Hey Stefan,

I'm wondering if there's a karma mod only for threads, that's not global, but only per thread. Just a thought.

I hope this feature is used only to comment on the poster's use of the forum.

Respectful?
Courteous?
Openness/Sharing?
etc.

NOT

Do I like this person?
The idea is crap? (unless you have sharable proof of you being right then your idea is just as much crap)
Sharing the above proof, constructive criticism, 'good intentioned attempts' at educating someone should not be reason for a smite. Now if you are an anal cavity about it then expect one!

If someone clearly states that his post is his opinion only then that should not earn a smite.

Somehow I think there are a lot of smites simply because the smiters are no different than the smited.

I would agree with you that the TheBuzz gang is attacking me, Broli, and you Thane.

Stefan, isn't there a way to prevent people from doing multiple smites on the same person? That's a major flaw in the karma system.

@Stefan

I think this Karma thing it totally childish, unproductive and insultingly inaccurate and should be removed immediately. I am not here to be peg-posted by others and refuse to peg-post others. A simple click on a button is too easy. They have to also write WHY. Without a valid answer to WHY, this method is just totally bogus and means Z E R O. Sorry but I really think it should be removed right away before it creates such a bad atmosphere here that we will just leave and go somewhere else. I am not an experimental rat to me poked and prodded at every post.

Also, the use of TPU elite and other expressions are also nothing but illusions and discriminatory. There is no TPU so how the hell can there be a TPU elite. Why is it good to be an Elite over nothing? So then you should put HHO Elite, Mag Elite, PM Elite and Shmuck Elite so everyone can feel at home.

I asked you to consider limiting the number of new threads one can start with a maximum of 1 or 2 per 3 months. Not more. This will force guys to use their brains and look up existing threads and not open up new threads every time they feel a furt coming.

Anyways, what's the use.

You guys have it all wrong on the karma thing.

I am only following protocol - if you post something endlessly trifle, reiterative, or just plane stupid, in a thread that I am following - then you get smited. Post something useful in some way shape or form and you get applauded.

This being the case, I have smited Paul everytime he has mentioned a geiger counter - and I already explained why the use of one is not satisfactory, but he keeps bringing it up - I gave him about 5 total give or take.

I_S has 53 smites - I only gave him 3 - so who else is dishing out the smites?

Saint Buzz (TheBuzz) has like 30 smites - I assume the troll network is smiting him randomly and from different accounts - but not too often or it looks suspicious - following their own protocol.

I have 8 or so smites - at least one per troll that has been identified.

Ramset has about 20 smites - pretty suspicious when he never posts anything derogatory - perhaps he is a troll target or a decoy/center as protocol would require.  If he is, then he plays both sides and I'll start smiting him too.  Until that is determined, I'll give him the benefit of the doubt.   I did give him two applauds but the smighting attack was too strong.  I suspect trolls are behind it and make it look like Saint Buzz's group - both sides against each other again.

Calling out the trolls is the best thing to ever happen on this forum.

I'm not going to stoop to your level by retorting to name calling such as "trolls" as you so enjoy, but I will say that you're talking nonsense. You and the thebuzz refuse to allow anyone to ask for a shred of evidence. Rethink if you believe asking for a shred of proof is "trolling."

IMO Stefan would consider that abusing the Karma. You can't stop people from asking for evidence. You are so biased that you refuse to even listen to people. You make immediate assumptions the instant you don't like what someone says.

@Grumpy

Why is this even a discussion. Just a waste of time.

What now, we will look forward to The Daily Karma Rapport.

I for one will not stay in such and environment so I will simply leave if this Karma Krap does not dissappear from this forum. End of story. I did not sign up for this.

Paul, you have been in the game a long time.  Long enough to have had the goods a few times, so cut the BS, OK?   We know what you are now - live with it.   SAiNt Buzz is tryng to convey information that will enable the understanding of anomalous energy producing devices, and all you can do is attempt to prevent this - why?

"Troll" is just a term.  Haven't you heard of "trolling"?  It's a "marine" term.  ;D

"Karma" was a good idea, but it's not "real", as you can see.  Might as well turn it back off now, as it no replacement for a moderation.

I second that; i.e., I'm not staying here so long as the karma system is active. Stefan is doing a great job, but it's chaos over here due to certain people who continually partake in Ad hominem. The karma may be Stefans only option, unless he were to start banning certain people.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ad_hominem

Thane has suggested a few people to be ban at this forum. I second his ban list.

Peace to Stefan and all the good people at this forum!
