There is another way to heat your house, https://www.ecohome.net/guides/1075/all-about-solar-air-heaters-diy-or-purchased/

The Sun is a big thermo-nuclear fusion reactor and direct sunlight generates around 1 kW of heat per square meter when it hits a non-reflective black surface. Think about that... 1000 watts/m^2.

I built my first 4x8 solar thermal panels, three of them, when I was 16 to heat a small shop about 35 years ago. As they say, it's so stupid simple and obvious even a child could figure it out which makes me wonder why most adults cannot. I mean one would think every house would have them and they are by far the cheapest, cleanest, most durable and lowest maintenance way to generate heat.

Here is an even cheaper solution: http://solarwall.com/en/home.php

Solar wall, is quite simply black corrugated metal with a bunch of holes in it like aluminum soffit. Sunlight heats the surface and the hot air gets sucked in through the holes and blows into your house. Again it seems so stupid simple you would think everyone would have the southern exposure of their house covered with these... free energy.

Which begs the question... why isn't this the norm and installed on every house?. Are people lazy or just plain stupid?. We have all the solutions we need however what we do not seem to have is a will to implement them to improve our lives.

good links [a bit embarrassing when put in context]

the sun can do a lot more for our every day needs ,  especially in thermal heat applications.
could use a good thermal battery or "other" to store and use heat over bigger time frames [water heat storage is one method ,maybe some other options ...low temp Phase change liquids or perhaps what the TinMan is doing with his water bird challenge ??

and then there is this   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x0MjZOR89Fk
200 dollars "fuel" cost to drive a car 10,000 miles ??
seems impossible .....
we have a big toy box of things to utilize [sun, Tide, wind, ......gravity .. we should have drawn much more from them a long time ago.
Time to change that...time to plug into the perpetual motion we swim through..............

200  gallons of water can store 300,000  + BTU's [approx 100 KWH's ??
a 100 square foot solar thermal collector can do this ?
would take a 10 KW photovoltaic array to match this [perhaps more]

and this year some research is going into the "Beyond thermal Battery" in USA
