Two 5 pin SOT23 Signal Generators
Only requires variable resistor to adjust.
LTC1799 1Khz-33Mhz http://www.linear.com/pc/productDetail.jsp?navId=H0,C1,C1010,C1096,P2069

LTC6905 17Mhz-170Mhz http://www.linear.com/pc/productDetail.jsp?navId=H0,C1,C1010,C1096,P7888

Can be bought via Farnell in the UK at £2.81 so this has to be the cheapest signal generator i have ever been able to built.

There are also more devices to the range

I bought couple of these in the Summer and they are pretty easy to use, once you get around soldering all their pins (I used a, 8-DIP socket and wires leading to pins of the LTC, didn't want to bother making a PCB for it...)
