Man judging himself:Two extremes.
« on: November 10, 2008, 03:07:22 AM »
In one scenario man is a destroyer, depleting resources, killing, warming the planet, imposing his superiority on the world. In another scenario man is a creator, living conservatively, saving lives, trying to end global warming, and trying to coexist with the other creatures on the planet. Most people are somewhere in between.People know the truth about what we are from one extreme to the other. This planet was not made for us to the exclusion of all the other life on it.Perhaps sensing this truth of survival is what has gotten us this far.But we cannot all live in such a modern fossil fuel burning, refrigerated, meat eating, land filling ,etc, way. It is ironic that burning oil and coal has taken us this far into knowledge just to discover that we must not  recklessly continue in this way.Destroying the planet is not forgivable in any or all religions or by any race or all races...because simply there will be no one to do the forgiving. Some of the most powerful people in the world have a view of man as condemned and wasteful and doomed to extinction...but they have no humility.Just as it is not our right to destroy the world,it is not out right to pass final judgement on ourselves individually or on human beings as a whole. This is the task of a higher power whether existant or not.And if all people believed this the world would be a better place. When in history has man had more knowledge? When in history has the average man had to ponder the fate of his fellow creatures and the planet itself? If we are to be judged...let it be divine judgement or none at all.
