What is a VDG and a Tesla coil? Voltage multipliers?
Differences and similarities?

The tesla coil is essentially a step up transformer, the vdg creates a static build up much the same way rubbing a balloon on material.

The Tesla coil is an RF radio frequency step up transformer. The RF AC signal being generated
by an initial spark gap like the old time LF radio transmitters.

The Van D' Graf generator is a static electricity generator - an influence machine. The Van D' Graf
machine has a high voltage DC power supply that ejects an initial electron charge onto a belt then
that belt runs the charge around through the environment eventually transferring even more charge
to a metal sphere or dome.

While high voltage currents behaves somewhat like a static electrical charge, they are
different.

A Marx Generator is series of diode based voltage multipliers that step up low voltage
AC up to very high DC level by repeated use of voltage multiplication stages. A Marx
generator might be used as a belt exciter for a very high voltage Van D' Graf generators.
