Will this motor work?
« on: November 04, 2005, 09:13:19 PM »
This is my first post so don't go too hard on me, but please do be honest. I was playing around with some neo magnets and i noticed how a ceramic (weaker magnet)? moves right accross from one end to the other in a track i made. It consists of hard drive neo magnets in the following manner (neo, steel, neo, steel... and so on). The poles are facing like this? ?S/N [Steel] S/N [Steel] S/N [Steel] S/N [Steel]. I used a 1/2 ceramic magnet and it moves both ways on the track deppending with side of the ceramic magnet is down. I have attached a picture of a circular track. I was just wondering what you guys think. I have already ordered some cube magnets and will experiment with them. I will post my results later on.

Sorry, I think it doesn't works.

In the top of the wheel, there are three cube type neo magnets, right. 2 of them first attract the right side of the large ceramic magnet (second they want to rotate 90 degree, and standing forever), and the only one neo on the left, which repulse the ceramic magnet, it isn't enough to break free the wheel from the attraction. Attraction works like a rope, unfortunately... And magnets do not want to repulse themselves, unfortunately...
And i see, in this case the attraction is minimum two times stronger than repulsion, and tie the wheel in the drawed position. No motion...

But its only my viewpoint... maybe wrong, but i think it is not...

I hope you find another solutions. But don't worry.  :)
It is not easy, i know...

My theory started with this setup and it works. I made the rotating wheel to see if it would hold the same principle. I think it might work. I guess i won't know until i get my 1/8 neo cubes. They  were really cheap anyways, so there won't be much loss there. I think the key is small neomagnets and a bigger ceramic magnet. I will try to upload a video of my simple linear track, to see that it does move the ceramic magnet accross the track.

Duranza,

what do you mean by "it works" ? Did you build a physical experimental setup ? Or did you just simulate it via a software-programm ?

The problem with all these setups - like the Adsitt-Ramp ( and he failed too) - is that the whole area around this setup is filled with balanced magnetic fields. The glider( runner) - even if it is getting in fast from the left - is not able to move as far out of the system in order to escape the field-border on the right.

Do not waste time. many have tried and failed. Look for the Adsitt-Ramp and study it.

Kator01,

To Duranza: if you want a workable "magnet motor" then visit the espacenet-archiv and
search under the names:Henry Bougon(FR,US), Tamke(DE),Grander(WO).

Kator01,

"I will try to upload a video of my simple linear track, to see that it does move the ceramic magnet across the track".
- Of course across the track it will move, because the track has the ends where the magnetic field of track will move the magnet (rotor). As soon you close the loop, rotor will stop because there is not any field breakages.

"visit the espacenet-archiv and search under the names:Henry Bougon(FR,US), Tamke(DE),Grander(WO)".
- Can you give any sites?

The setup is allready known and its always an interesting thing. I never tried to do it the way you do by chaining magnet and steel that way. Does the ceramic magnet also move if you place it right inside the track (not at te beginning where it gets attraction force by entering the track - see Addsit Ramp or equal)?

I just found out that there is just such a setup already and it is called a Tomy Track. It is a little different than mine because it involves cutting slots in the magnets. I still haven't got my neo cubes yet  >:(  I haven't really tryed to start it from the middle, but i will try to see what happens.

Allright, simply keep trying. Perhaps you can tell more about your track and magnet setup.
