why not have a summarized section/category over here? .tk is free but has ads last time i checked, unless you want to spend even more money?
probably better off pointing free-energy.tk to overunity.com or point to the section/category of overunity.com or is this what you had in mind to begin with?

stick with mysql or postgresql. do a search on "mysql vs postgresql" you will find that they are both excellent and it really comes down to personal preference between the two. mysql has features that postgresql lacks, and vice versa.

So now I know, that Murphy´s law has again truth...
Never change a running system..

Murphy's Law states that if something can go wrong, then, in time, it will.

Your problem is that to retrieve 1k of useful data, we need to download 200k.
This burden, a caravan full of brick rubble, must be born by your system as well
as by us. it makes no sense to me.
Paul.

I want to be on page 1 on google with the keyword "free energy"

I can only achieve this, if I have a domain name which has the
word free energy in it.
As the .tk domain is a paid domain I own it and it will have no
ads from the dot.tk nic.

I see.
Many thanks for the tips.

I will keep overunity.com running on MySQL anyway, as it seems
the SMF1.1.6
software does not support SQLite in this moment.

free-energy.tk will be running on
SQLite but this will be only for articles and summarizes
of the overunity.com threads.

Regards, Stefan.

Hi Stefan,

I am not sure why do you want to downgrade your database from MySQL to SQLite, have you looked at the differences between the two?

In all honesty, SQLite is not something you want to run when you have a site of this size. Matter a fact you wouldn't run it on a website of any magnitude at all. Simple low traffic sites might be able to get away with it but not overunity.com.

And what's with this obsession about ranking on Google? Is this related to making profit or personal prestige?

I thought that it did not matter because that's not why we are all here, but maybe I was wrong to think that?

Stefan,

The forum being up and down is getting quite annoying to be frank. There's not many ways you can mess up a forum for it to be this messed up.

Well, I just had to move the database again and that takes time.
Sorry for the inconvenience...
ALso I tried to fix the UTF-8 fonts problem, but currently the
fonts package is not available from Simplemachines.org

The database is now fully converted to UTF-8, but there are
still some missing fonts in the forum setup.

Have to wait, until the
smf_1-1-6_english-utf8.zip
is again available from
Simplemachines.org

Sorry, as theforum is already very big
and the database getting bigger and bigger,
it is not so easy to do all these steps just in 5 minutes only.

Takes time, if you need to import a 210 Mbytes database file
into a new database, as sometimes the hosting scripts also
put it into a que, so it is not instantly done.

Also I am will move the site soon to a new hoster and have to
prepare this move the right way and have to test a few things.

But I will let you all know, when the move will be made as
then for 1 or 2 days the forum will not be available due to the
DNS changes.

But now it is working again faster, as I am now again on a faster SQL server again.

Regards, Stefan.

Stefan,

Do you need this file smf_1-1-6_english-utf8.zip ?  It is here:

http://www.simplemachines.org/download/?languages;lang=english

rgds,  Gyula

EDIT  Just noticed it is has zero byte...   but smf_1-1-6_english-utf8.tar.gz is ok!

Well, I installed now the UTF-8 fonts,
but when I switch to English_UTF-8
in the admin panel,
there are then many errors like:

Notice: Undefined index: tp-admin2 in /....../overunity/Sources/Subs.php on line 2779

Notice: Undefined index: tp-admin5 in /....../overunity/Sources/Subs.php on line 2782

Also the strange characters are still there...

Well I have to read and post inside the SMF forum what this still could be.

Maybe the conversion of the database to UTF-8 did not run through without errors.

Also I see, that some of my personal messages are gone now.

But at least the forum is faster now again, as I moved it again to a faster
and not so crowded MySQL server.

Hi Stefan,

There was a mention of similar problem last month on the forum site of simplemachines.org, maybe it gives some hint for you?

http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=261698.0

At the end, it just recommends using English but not  English-utf 8...
