With gas prices so high... Shut up you babbling voices!
« on: August 09, 2008, 06:42:00 AM »
There is an EXTREMELY annoying sound track ad playing for water4gas when I go to the main page,  there are 2-3 things that make this impossibly annoying.

First is that if firefox is resuming a browsing session and you've have a few instances of it open you can have it playing many time slightly out of synch.   Quite maddening. (though youtube is no better, some video sites are though and only play once you go to the tab/window)

Next I don't see any controls and indeed the only way I knew it was coming from this website was by closing the tab.
Finally it does not even seem to play properly on my computer, it seems to stop and start.

So Stefan unless you are getting paid megabucks for this atrocity it's not worth it, and even if you are it might still not be.

At the very least I get to bitch about it. (At the same time Thanks for the forum and your efforts to fix it's issues as it grows)

Just to clarify I mean the main page of Overunity.com not the water4gas website.

Its not your video card, the sound is noisy I just checked.

Better to not see this page its completely messup, when you go on a page and need to scroll down  the page 1000 times, I usually close the page and say
in my head when you dont know how to make a web page you better to not make one! lol

This page is just not navigable, just another crappy pager design.

Regarding the high oil prices, in an interview on  May 29, Lindsey Williams made the following statement about the artificial oil price and where things were going from here.  Note that oil hit an all-time high of over $147 in mid-July - pretty close to the predicted $150 a barrel - and oil has plummetted since, hitting $118 on Friday!

Quote
• The price of a barrel of oil will rise a little more [Note: $150, according to Williams' May 29 interview on Out There TV]. Then an announcement will be made of the discovery of huge oil reserves "North of Russia" and in Indonesia. These will flood the market with oil and the price will drop to $50 a barrel.
• That will bankrupt the Arab nations - who will be forced to dump their dollar reserves.
• That will in turn effectively bankrupt the US, and "America will see a financial collapse from which it will take years to recover".
• Following that will come the North American Union and the Amero.
• Additionally, Williams was told that "something will happen shortly before the election" which will ensure that McCain becomes President.

I agree lol.. I use a tv tuner card and watch tv while browsing the net, and this just overrides it.  There doesn't seem to be an "off" button.., so I try and get off the main page as quick as possible.  I can't imagine if I was blasting music and opened up the main page...I think my speakers would blow.

Yes, it needs to go, or I will surely be limiting my time here.

Yeah, this must be one of the most f....d up sites on all internet. Seriously!
Countless adds, slow response, annoying perpetual voices, a never ending error messages like "user xxxx has reached.....". $%(/&%#"!=!!!

I don't know, is Stefan really making  "big bucks" out of this???
It's noble to host a site dedicated to OU, but with all this extremely annoying things, it literally frightens  a lot of people away....

just modify your hosts file...

add this line
127.0.0.1  water4gas.com

what a hosts file is, does and where to find it on your system
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/tutorial51.html

so tired of people treating their pc as a commodity item like a toaster, learn how the damn thing works and learn how to administer it or deal with it.

same thing goes for antivirus crapware. what a waste of time, money and CPU cycles... if 'patching' it worked we wouldn't still be dealing with patches 15 years later.

modification of your hosts file is simply "enumerating the badness" which is not the best way but i'm not your consultant or sys admin so... best option would be to replace your windows default 'allow all' policy with a 'deny all' policy. it is easier to enumerate the goodness rather than the badness.
