Yes, to master radiant energy is one goal.  This will relieve the suffering caused by the energy robber barons, and make life more economical.  But this is more about transforming the human spirit into a more tolerant, loving form which can coexist with his neighbors in a amicable manner.  To end hunger, war, and ignorance is a far greater goal than producing free energy.  It has been told that mankind will not be able to master the great powers until he has mastered the fundamental  humanities.  The hungry must be fed.  The homeless must be sheltered.  The wars must end.  Until mankind knows how to live peacefully with those that inhabit his own world, he will not be permitted to travel the galaxy.  Advanced technology is only permitted to those who have advanced spirits.  Love must be the foundation of your being before you can wield galactic power.  Advanced technologies have extraordinary power which can be used to create or destroy.  It is the spirit which determines how this power is used.  Frankly, the Galactic Forces which regulate these powers will not permit powers such as these to be used without the proper prerequisites and training.  To do so may result in unmitigated destruction.  So, you must be worthy to wield the power before you are permitted to access it.  This would explain the relatively low success rate with Free Energy Devices.  We, as a planet, must show that we are worthy to wield such power before before we can freely access it.  As the Earth sheds the people who would abuse this power we will see Free Energy increasingly more easy to access.  It is all a matter of time.  By 2012 it should be relatively easy to access.
