Hello all, I'm back, I wont be here all of the time but I will be around...

Ok here is a design that came to me the other day, its the best one yet...

A weight that swings upwards to the top of the wheel. This mechanism started off strange but has now been simplified and it really does fly upwards, this is how it works

When the weight is near the top of the wheel, there needs to be a release mechnaism (peg) so it can swing out, as it swings out because the wheel is already moving it swings upwards to the very top of the wheel...

As you can see there is string (on the left) a weight and a lever...
The weight when released swings out and up with the help of CF (the wheel does not have to spin fast at all...) I now need to find a way to make the weight fall back in, I could have it with MT 27 so that the current weight above falling in half way down the wheel and MT 27 coming out...

Just an idea...

Question is, how do you now get weight D to take the position of weight C inorder to continue the motion, once that is found, then we have something to play with...

not to be negative but "D-C" dont gonna happen in a million years, because of centrifugal forces, which i assume are the same forces that you hope gonna lift the weight in the "A-B" step.

MAYBE using magnets, the repulsion effect could lift the weight ("D-C") without brake the wheel.
IF that works.. i think the same magnets would act as the release mechanism.

the only problem i see with the magnets theory is that the weights would lose mmm... weight! ... in the heavy side of the wheel, so!, in the end the lighter side would become heavier.. mmm!

Well if you look at weight A that will fall out, if you turn the wheel clockwise as it falls it, it swings to the top of the wheel then falls back down which it needs to be caught...

I don't yet fully understand the idea but i'll try to get what you're aiming at. If that left brown thing is a string why is it stiff at C and D.

 I know what you are trying to do, and I am trying to figure out some advice without exposing other work. Now you have to worry about CF. I learned that with some of my floating weights which CF showed me a new problem LOL. OK I think I have it for you, attach the B and C weight together and the A and D. You know work them in pairs.

Broli they are stiff because they have gone into the centre of the wheel and are caught there (which needs to be figured out)


AB thats a good idea, I will try that, I dont think it will perform the same, it might, I will try it anyway...

AB why dont you teach us your way of floating a weight, it seems like it will help us...

Sure. The first file shows the heavier balanced weight of 4kg each. They are hung on pulleys. The 1kg weight is attached to a lever as it falls down, it lift the balanced 4kg weight without much effort. It is up to the imagination of the inventor of how he can apply this method into a gravity wheel.

The second shows two weights of the same mass attached to a pulley. It's path is modified by using a slider. you will notice that the weight on the right side will be relatively heavier than the weight on the left side (ie. it will fall and lift the weight on the left side).

The third one use the same concept as the first one only it uses 1 pulley.

The pictures are copied from Working Model 2005. so if you are familiar with the program you will know what each components represent.

Thank you, looks good but the light weight isn't really lifting a heavy one is it, because you have two weight lifting one, unless the small and large weight were on the wheel but the other one that falls could somehow not effect the wheel?
