I found plans for an electrolizer that can produce 1.7L/min of hydrogen with 20amp . Is 20 amps too high? would lower amps be better?

20Amps tine 12 Volts = 240 Watt Input.

If 12 Volts !

Also wouldn't more amps corrode the metal plates inside the electrolyzer quicker ? or something

I think it's high. With 20 amps. you will generate a lots of heat after an hour of run. I would buy a pulse generator.
