Title: Offtopic: Australian Ebay sales only via PayPal, soon the whole Ebay world?
Post by: hartiberlin on May 18, 2008, 04:37:39 AM
Hi All,
I just read, that in Australia all Ebay sales can now only be paid via PayPal.

As the recent PayPal fees are pretty excessive,
in Germany, if you sell something for 1 Euro, you pay already 37 % PayPal fees !
 :( >:( >:( :o

So many Australian sellers are p..sed off about Ebay.

What are the best and biggest auction alternatives to use instead of Ebay ?

Many thanks.

Regards, Stefan.

Why 37%?

Its not like 2.9% + 0.30 per sale? (here in us and canada its the price)

I must admin if its really 37% just dont use paypal!

I think what Stephan is saying is that if you use Ebay you HAVE to use PayPal.

Not a good thing as it bullies anyone wanting to sell something online into using paypal which is a very nice way to record your purchases and finances.

Taxes can't be far behind.

NOT good.

craigslist.org is the freeware alternative to ebay I believe it was also made by the founders of ebay to keep competing services at bay such as another ebay startup...

You could use this site fairly easily and save tons o money!

Ebay is getting to be redicoulous but I believe partly this is due to Tax scares on internet goods they are talking of taxing people weather in state or out of state sale possibly out of country when they do this however ebay in order to keep its consumer base realizes that it will have to infact likely lower the prices as well...

The other problem is fraud, identity theft, is on the rise faster then wildfire!

Nearly everyone I know has been a victim of fraud on ebay and in order to combat fraud and to combat piracy of goods or replica type things so they can kiss the asses of coperate greedy bastards they have to have on hand a lot of people checking every auction and even then auctions get missed everyday.

Ebay is big business now there employee base must now be astranomical comparison to the beginning.

Ebay used to be nice till all the rules they are making it almost makes resale of something impossible now adays and many software vendors and music and movie vendors are trying to make resale more and more impossible even illegal!!!

Microsoft is a primo example you buy this copy of windows with a COA you are expected to stick to the side of your case...

Then your computer goes dead you try to peel the sticker off the case and sell your copy of windows and the sticker breaks into pieces...

So you try to sell your OS CD without a key for next to nothing in hopes that you'll find someone who possibly scratched or lost there original and they consider it illegal or worth pulling your auction...

Its BS man I cannot believe it there is a law that strictly gives you the right to resale!!!

enjoy

try craigslist!
