Deciphering the TPU in 2008
eldarion:
Hi EMDevices,
Yes, this was the standard Boyce coil with three primaries and one secondary. I have attached a drawing from D9.pdf.
I think that my HV (150V) is not high enough, and the iron in the core is going to cause serious problems at higher frequencies (higher frequencies critical to maintain catalyst in this configuration in my opinion). Bob's first (only?) working OU model (in the TEM sense) was air core, remember? :D
Also, when I was testing, I noticed that the magnetic bias finally had an effect, but it was extremely weak. If I were to re-wind this coil, I'd do it air core with two magnetic biases, so that there is an extremely uniform magnetic field between them (what Bob said to do originally), and put more windings on them. What I have now sucks down current and doesn't create a powerful magnetic field.
Just some thoughts...I don't really have the time to rewind it right now. :-[

hello Eldarion
i like your lasted work.
the core you built by the d9 is made for a water cell as a load.
to use it as a power core then the minimen you need the dc bias winding added and pultz coils open ended.
remove the primary coils and add the bias winding on the out side of the secondary about 48 turns #20 ga.
then rewind your prymarys. use a 12v bias on the new winding and pultz the prymarys open ended. the secondary allso needs a cap and a choke like in the diagram on Bobs thread message 98 . if i am wrong somebody please help.
thanks
