Need help on coil winding...

My son and I are building a pulse motor. We actually built one already but we want to build one that is more presentable. We need some clean wound coils, not the ones we hand wound nonsymtrically and croked. We need help from someone who would like to earn a few US dollars. I know they're not wirth much nowadays but thats all I can offer. Anyway, what we need are basic wound coils of the following dimensions...

Air core magnet wire wound copper coil:
a.   Outside Diameter: Preferred 25.4mm (approx: 1.0 inches) but can be 31.75mm (approx: 1.25inches)

b.   Inside Diameter: Preferred 6.35mm (approx: .250 inches) but can be between 12.5mm (approx: .500 inches) and 6.35mm (approx: .250 inches)

c.   Height: Preferred 19.0mm (approx: .750 inches) but can be between Preferred 19.0mm (approx: .750 inches) and 25.4mm (approx: 1.0 inches)

d.   Gauge: AWG24.

Just wind till the coil is full.

I have called some coil manufacturers and they all want big $$$$ for prototype quantity of 12 coils.

Howdy PoopyPantallons,

He he he, that screen name kills me.  Winding coils is as much an art as it is a science.  It just takes practice.  I have been winding all kinds of inductors, chokes, and transformers for 20 years.  It looks like you already have the specifications defined there.  You wound one, and apparently it works.  So wind another, that one will look a little better.  Wind 5 more, each one gets better with practice.  Its all about the process.  You might make a jig to hold the coil on one end and the spool of wire on the other end.  It helps to have some sort of clamp to hold the coil and the wire when you need to take a break.  Sometimes I use a strip of electrical tape to hold the wire in place when I have to stop for whatever chaos just happened.

two choices here:

1) Spend $200 on your electromagnet

2) Learn to coil wire

I tend to agree that paying for electromagnets is completely nuts, so I wrap them myself.
