Guys, gather round for a minute.
SM was in audio. I know this may sound stupid, but do I ever care. (Actually I do.) lol

The way the FTPU center toroid is dimensioned is very particular.
I have not been able to find such toroids on the market. None. Yes I have been looking all over. Those center toroids are not ferrite. From my own  tests, no ferrite with so few winds would do anything to influence such a massive toroid core. They're not laminated iron and they're not iron powder either.

If it is the toroid I am thinking of it is just a catalog item that I have used a lot of over the years in switching power supplies for filtering.

The dimension issue I am talking about is more the center opening is smaller then usual toroid cores. This makes it a much thicker toroid core. Now curiously, I have seen this dimension before but not in toroids......?

Are you talking about the choke in the center? If so that is readily available.

I am now sure the center toroid core is a speaker magnet that he painted white enamel. This explains some edge shadows that are inconsistent with a factory made toroid core. Onto this he wound two field perturbation primaries.

We all know that a DC current sent into a coil produces a field that by itself does nothing, just like a speaker magnet left on a table will do nothing.  Move the magnet over a wire and you make power, except in this case you don't move the magnet, you perturb the magnet field. When you release it, it returns to where it was for free. Two... Two...... Two movements in one. You push it out, stop, it comes back. This moves the field over the collectors. So 3000 cycles out makes 3000 free cycles in. The return cycles are not a field collapse, it is simply another magnetic field movement which is additive.

DC on a coil produces a DC flux.

What's even better with two primaries is you can use @allcanadians circuit to make two movements in one pulse. All you need is a Tesla short circuit. Add that to the two free returns makes four movements with one pulse. What a deal.

Now if you have a center speaker and you have an outer coil ring making like a microphone, what do you get? Feedback. This feedback is what makes the current flow in the system. I would bet top dollar that in the FTPU spool center is a speaker coil. The speaker magnet is doing two things. It permit a speaker coil to oscillate so it can make feedback with a microphone, and it provides the field that is deflected by the two primary coils.

 I can't see a microphone playing a role in this device. It would be too susceptible to ambient noise in demos where the slightest clipping would cause the mic to run out of headroom thus losing feedback.Also... this comes back to scalability. The smallest unit is the reference for testing such theories. If it can't be done on the little TPU it should be discarded.

But there's more.........

Now you choose. Which is the microphone and which is the collector, the ring or the control coil. Feedback is the best return loop. No SS components required. The junction is through the air.

One major reason SM said not to go near the tpu with a piece of metal, and he told the others to remove watches and rings, was simply because the metal would immediately stick to the magnet and give away the secret. Plus such an impact would risk ruining the coils. lol

Considering that the vast majority of jewelry items are non-ferrous materials like gold and stainless steel I would discount this SM statement as another decoy. This theory is supported by the TPU that was demonstrated on top of the stack of VHS decks. Can't get much more metallic than a steel chassis.

The center toroid mounting bracket with the two terminals on a toroid with two coils does not make sense. You would need four terminals if this was an off the shelf design, but there's only two, sooooooooooo. This is simply a bracket for terminals going to a speaker coil. He put a white padding between the bracket and the toroid magnet to protect the toroid windings. The padding may also have a dielectric issue since he places the small magnet to these terminals.

The magnet has to be in the center of the collector.
A while back I had put up a video of moving litz wires located here that shows this effect. Somewhat similar to @marco's dancing magnets.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XXgL4Wf8zrQ

I know this sounds (no pun intended) like very simplistic gibber jabber, but the parts fit in so well.

I think I am now ready to make a FTPU build. I will need some help on the EE side.

@JD

I have a question.

Did SM have access to speaker components such as bulk speaker magnets, speaker coils, speaker coil terminals and terminal to coil wires, etc., or, did he have access to speakers from which he could have removed these?

Of course but Steven was working on the TPU prior to Sheric.

I am almost certain that the center toroid is the last component in the output and merely provide some load isolation and smoothing in a rather conventional manner.

When evaluating this technology always default to the simplest common denominator. Steven recently told me again that he did not know how the device worked. It just did.

By the way just as a side note Steven and I are completely back to where we were before. He understood why I had to appeal to his ego to get him to surface. It's really nice to be talking again. He is without a doubt one of the most likable and intriguing people I will ever know and I have worked with a few.

Jack,
Why don't you suggest to Steven to join this this group then we can all together be puzzled as to how the TPU works!
As a side note, he must be a very shroud business man to sell the product with out knowing how it worked.

JD, please don't take this the wrong way.

The only thing I wanted to say was, if the center "Torrid" or "Choke" is an output filter, and on the
Large TPU, I understand that a comercial grade 50A fuse was blown by shorting it across the output,
then wouldn't that have melted the wires on that choke.  I'm NOT saying it wasn't an output filter,
but the amount of power that fuse would use to blow would seem to be beyond what the choke could
handle.  The resistance of that choke would be enough that the fuse would last longer than the wire on
the choke?   Now, if it were cold electricty....   Or multiple winds in parallel.....

I holding on to your statement, for the time being, but I feel there may be a grey area there.  Glad to hear
you got back with SM.  Hope that he can get a little pride out of all that his device has caused here.
Please, give him our (or at least mine) regards and wish him all the best.  After what he must have
gone through at the time, I doubt he would ever want to even hear about the happenings here, never
mind even think about being involved, but at least he should be comforted that his ideas were not
lost on the world, and the concept lives on.

Art.

Hi Art,

Actually Steven does frequent the site. Who do you think "Mercury" was?  ;D

Steven cannot participate as a result of the restriction the feds put on him. He sold the technology prior to the sale to U.E.C. This explains why Steven never told Lindsay enough to violate the order.

All the best,

Jack

OK here it is wound.
Well, it does not look like a "normal" coil design. Magnets are rarely used as core, no? I would speculate that central toroid is just a pure electromagnet winding, no permanent magnets are necessary. I had an unrelated idea in the past, of an obvious electro-dynamic speaker: the one which bends ferromagnetic metal by means of electromagnet's varying force. This is a highly non-conventional design (compare it to conventional speaker drivers), but it may be what is going on in the TPU (if the central toroid is an electromagnet).

Electromagnet simply re-produces mic's signal "with gain".

And, BTW, only in acoustic terms I would justify changing of "delay time" by cutting wire in length. If delay is non-acoustic, wire length won't make any serious difference if it's not an inductive element.

Thank you Jack Durban for your efforts and thanks Steven Marks for this amazing device.

No offence intended to anyone here. I am very puzzled how this whole story is becoming very close to soap operas in Brasil. We have an inventor, a scientist and a group of intelectuals in one forum, We have the device in video and lots of theories. All these puzzles could easily be solved by simple words of the creator Steven Marks which according to Jack Durban is here already with us, reading and seeing all this drama.

Why dont we get this to the end NOW, there is no better time than NOW. It would be one post from Steven or Jack after talking to each other and that would be the end of this whole problem, why that is not happening???? UEC, FBI, CIA what is the point? It sounds just like a soap opera a big lie.

The device is in video, the inventor is here BUT NO EXPLANTIONS, no help really, just a ghost trail, a duck hunt but no ducks. Can not we get this thing explained fast and easy?

Fausto.

@Watssup,
 I think you have something up there i would finish it before making any conclusions. It has to do with either magnets or audio toroids. about the mike for using to resonate the coils you cold use some simple oscillators .
Keep up the good work and thx for the snapshots.

I also appreciate the efforts made by the inventor and those sharing what they have. As for the soap opera - yes it is. I am surprised at how many times folks voice upset about the lack of sharing of important details.
Provided previous information is correct, I'm not surprised the information isn't open. When you give up the rights to information you can risk a lot sharing it. I have experience with that mistake and the info was not even close to the same level of importance. Sparing all of details I'll just say the outcome was incredibly painful for me and my family. I'll never recover completely. I'll not make that mistake again for anyone.

@JD,

I am happy for you that you have come to terms again with Steven. :)

@Steven Mark,

First of all I want to tell you how much I appreciate your invention and all the work you have done.
I guess that in those years it wouldn't have come to your mind that in the year 2008 so many people would come together to study, read, communicate, discuss and trying to rebuild it. That alone is a great achievement I think. I think its a pitty that you are not free to join and participate. Not only because of your past choices, but also because of all the ignorant people....
I think that it is not your task to save the world, you are an inventor, not a messaih.
The world needs no saving, it will be here for millions of year. Maybe the people on it need to be saved...But thats an endless road.
I hope that times will change and we can welcome you. I dont know that.
I wish you all the best and hope this reaches you in good health.

Greetings Rene

@JD

When feedback is on, you can yell "turn it off, turn it off", and it won't change the feedback until you either move the microphone or flick the switch off or unplug the amp. And, it will feedback at a frequency which is also an oscillation. The TPU diameter will influence the frequency and the diameter is determined by the circumference. lol

By the way, if you ever manage to find that Beta copy, we're all eyes.

@all

I have done some preliminary experiments with the speaker magnet toroid, which I would like to call a Magoid so we can refer to it specifically. Well here are two usages I have found.

#1: Using DC pulses on the coils does not shift the Magoid field. This is because the coils do not have enough winds to shift the ever present and fairly strong speaker magnet field. This is encouraging since the more you push out, the more will return.

If any of you read Jack H's last post, this sort of confirms why I want to wind a new  #1. His coils are pretty fat but he's shifting a huge neo mega mag of a thing. I think he should not bother with turning a shaft. Just stick that field shifter inside a nice big alternator stator and make some juice directly. That's what I will try with a fatter wound Magoid.

So, the #1 with single wind would not be suitable for a field shifter. So you need fatter winds but this does not hold with what is visible inside the FTPU, so #1 is not in the FTPU. Good. This simplifies matters considerably.

#2: I have tried with my computer frequency generator with audio sine waves. I put one end of the coils together on the audio common output and the two other ends to the left and right sides. With various frequency ranges the Magoid would respond. As soon as I put the Magoid on a soft padding, both the audible and physical vibrations stopped. But when I put it on a thin carton box as a resonator, the Magoid would respond directly to the audio frequencies so I am now sure this particular Magoid will provide enough output to generate a feedback via a microphone. I will try it on a real audio amplifier, microphone in mike input, magoid on speaker outputs at low volume to see (or hear). Also, a nice coating on the magnet will be better since the winds were flexing and the coating will permit the winding to embed itself to be snuggly held in place. Now if I put the top and bottom control coils in series with the magoid coils, I should be able to run electrons through them and see if the collector shows any voltage. lol

The top and bottom collector will be from the same wire, uncut. The control coil will be 48 turns on top and 48 turns on the bottom both going 340 degrees around. I suspect that once the collector starts generating current, it will create a center mag field going perpendicular from the center and up through the magoid and this will help mutual gain.

So here's the question.

Since I am so nill in EE matters, do any of you know how to design a rudimentary microphone amplifier using only 5-7 small components. That would fit on a circuit about 1.5" by 2". Just enough to amplify the gain from a microphone. If so please either post the circuit here or PM me.

@watssup
i found this on the net its a simple circuit to build a inverter for blacklight lamps you could use your coils in the circuit and it should oscillate by itself, without a microphone. consider the lamp as the load.

After reading Steven Mark?s letters to Lindsay (for the ??? time), I find it interesting that Steven suggests that he has given enough information that would enable a studious experimenter to replicate the device in some reasonable amount of time. He talks about the principle of operation and the coils in general terms, but nothing about the electronic components and/or ?multiple? frequencies needed, even in general terms. He has hidden the release of that information behind ?non-disclosure? and government agreements.

Even if one was to determine the correct construction of the coils, Steven in his own words in one of his first letters posted by Lindsay states, ?It has been a very long road from beginning to end. It took several years of experimentation to discover what frequencies and most importantly how to make small integrated circuits work to perform the control functions necessary to make the demonstrations you see on the video tapes available today.? From his own statement, he is saying that it took him ?several years? to discover the frequencies and integrated circuits to make the device operate after he had apparently determined the required coil design to use.

Based on the above, those who possess a similar electronic knowledge/ability that Steven had (whether great or small) can look forward to years of experimentation to replicate his device.  Either he is telling the truth about the complexity of determining the correct frequencies and circuits, or he is lying. If he is telling the truth, expect years to replicate his device. If he is lying, ?Good Luck? in replicating the device in a shorter length of time.

I think Steven is not concerned that anyone is going to replicate his device any time soon. I really hope I am proven wrong.

@ Wattsup  -  I used that circut long ago in my remote microphones , they work well but cheep quality. the better ones use opto coupler chips no noise. I have some chips around here I'll look up the No# If you want it.

from what i understand there is at least one if not two or more people who are having  extreamly good luck with working 4" tpu's, from what i can tell there now just trying different typs of wire and testing output. :-X

Jack,

would you still say that Steven is of the "cashier level"
or was that all just so that you could flush the guy out?

I think that you might consider apolagising for each and every distainful and insulting remark that you made about him ,now that you have what you want.

Its probable that this is not something that you would consider necessary
