triforce track idea
« on: March 23, 2008, 02:32:02 AM »
I have been viewing the tri force magnet ideas of CLaNZeR  and others thought of a really
simple way to test continuous motion with this pulsed magnetic energy effect.  I will make
this myself, but wanted to share the idea for others to try also, especially since I'm in
the process of moving right now and can't dedicate much time (in fact I'm getting behind
witting this.)

First,  congrats on progress made so far with this "tri-force" effect.  I've  seen the
slanted magnet / smot type designs that suffer from the "sticky" spot", so this is pretty
wild to me that connecting the magnets in this way overcomes this hold up.
Anyway, I know there are serious experimenters here so I'll get straight to the point.
As you see in the image it's a pretty simple idea, maybe even to simple.  Basically instead
of  trying to cause a rotor to rotate and fight air friction,  I thought why not use a
track
that has a non-magnetic toy car with a magnet attached.  This would only require
3 or 4 tri-force gate to create pulses of magnetic thrust.  The main thing is since you've
already achieved creating so far a roll away distance with the roller type, you just need
to guide the roller as it's rolling away.  You've already shown the roller will roll
through multiple gates.
Apparently connecting the gates in a full circle, one after the other closes the magnetic
field in such a way to stop the forward thrust.  Almost like there is "air flow" in the
magnets---in and out-- and when connected together they create one large air flow....so if
you connect them together in a full circle you've cut off that air flow ---no in and out,
it's all equalized.  I know this isn't accurate description of magnetic flux, but maybe
someone will catch what I'm saying :)  Why connect them in full circle, just use the thrust
you've achieved in pulses.  Most of nature works in pulses or oscillations, why not magnets
(or magnetic engineering if will)
This is one way to get full circle rotation from the tri-force effect.  That being said,
full rotation may be achieved however many times, but I think air friction will be the
enemy of this design as well eventually..  We'll see.   A PMM's based on these
principles may be better suited for space / vacuum.
  Not saying it's not possible
though.
But if many rotations are achieved no reason why you can't use that energy  to make
electrical pulse to keep it going !  Free is free.  It may not be exactly like you want.

Later, thanks again for sharing.

Couldn't figure out how to put image in post, so it is attached.

I've managed to shield the sticky point (with either iron or extra magnets) a little but it always seems to be lurking somewhere and when you put the second gate it pops back up... the tri force gates themselves do have a sticky spot just before the gate (and also a pull back after the gate if its not pulled into the next gate) you can see this on most of CLaNZeR s videos where the rotor/roller doesnt quite make it through the gate... its the same if you give it a slight push towards the start gate if you dont start in the center of it

more friction may be caused by guiding the car around the track... a rotor with a center bearing may be more efficient unless the car is very low friction in some way

I agree, reducing friction may be the key to this... my thoughts on collecting the energy from this device (IF we got it working) would be to have a fly wheel setup each spin gaining energy until the fly wheel had got to a high speed then collect the energy which would probably slow the fly wheel down to a certain speed and then let the wheel spin back up otherwise I dont think the device would have enough power to drive anything

"...my thoughts on collecting the energy from this device (IF we got it working) would be to have a fly wheel setup each spin gaining energy until the fly wheel had got to a high speed then collect the energy which would probably slow the fly wheel down to a certain speed and then let the wheel spin back up.."

Letting the wheel spin back up, that's an interesting idea, hadn't heard of that before.  Reducing the load size may help prevent the need to connect and disconnect, or stronger/more magnets in larger setup with the same load.

Also I forgot to mention something I found out about the tri-gates. I'm not sure if anyone else has caught this yet, but the tri-gates are stackable--not linear, but width wise, which make the effect even stronger and you get more distance / thrust in your roll away.  I've tested this, it works.  I've enclosed a picture describing what I mean.  I've gone up to 5 on the bottom and it still works good.

Ok seriously, I've got to get back to work.

oh yeah, just keep the same polarity pattern going to final one or it doesn't work.
