Just noticed this topic and thought I'd add what I found with the tri gate (if you hadn't found it out yet yourself).  Hopefully it will help with testing and shed some further light on tri effect.

Found that stacking tri gates width wise, instead of linear, increases that thrust, so more roll away.
Just keep adding magnets till you get to the final tri gate---continue the same polarity pattern though or it won't work.

Sean, the entrance is the lower/ flat side of the triangle.

  I think you misunderstood the drawing.  I was was just showing the progression from a single trigate to the multiple one (which forms one big one).  I included another drawing to show.  One on each side of roller.  Remember, continue same polarity schema or it won't work......uumm, ok, I'll do a drawing showing this (wanted to be lazy).  Especially since you go through the trouble of making video demos.

I was watching the first video (CLaNZeRHalbachExperiments1.wmv) and I realized that you made the runner overcome the gate of the second Halbach array after exiting the first Halbach array...

It's just after the message "Now for two Halbach Array Gates". You put the runner after the gate of the first array. Okay, you used your hand to do that. But after the runner exit this first  array, the runner enters the second array ALONE!

And you did it again after the message "Entrance Sticky Spot seems less than the Tri-Force Gate". Man, that's amazing!!! The second gate (entrance sticky spot) is entered ALONE by the runner!

How long that could be? If you had put a third array, the runner could overcome the gate (entrance sticky spot) of this third array? And a fourth? And a fifth?

Couldn't you had make the runner goes on for 100 meters just putting array after array? If the rolling surface was covered by piezos, how much power could you have stored after 100 meters?

Please, try that experiment again!!!!
