Looks like the only thing saving him from electrocution is a good pair of shoes and dry Earth, especially during the 'water' test. :o

Never in a million years would you persuade me to hold an arc welder under water while I fired it up. Never!

Even if I was wearing 20 pairs of rubber boots, standing on glass and praying like a mad-man!!

Never! No-sir-ee!!

He even looks like he is holding both contacts while firing it up!      Mentalist

Looks like a pretty dinky little unit though.

Pocket arc-welder!

One question.. Why has it got a carrying handle? It doesn't look heavy!

Here are 2 more videos of this amazing welding device...

http://de.youtube.com/user/lmanalili

How does it work ?
It seems they just use only one wire from the grid and maybe the device is
just a special coil ?
But why doesn?t the guy get electrocuted when he is holding it in the water ?

Is there no current flowing through his body to earth then ?

Very strange...

His Wire is direct connectet to the Housesupply.
So he can take about 50 Amps without activate the linebreaker.
The welding rod looks like 1,5mm

You want to order? look here:

Found an actual link to their website

Far as I can see it, (the welder) is an aluminum block with a handle on it and two terminals. The operator is simply not grounded to damp/moist earth or the ground rod, thus keeping him alive. Does anyone see anything different? The high current really does a number on the rod, it almost explodes.

Yes, I see it the same way. The power is connected directly to the mains and is bypassing what looks to be a fuse. I surmise the device is nothing more then an aluminum block with terminals on it. For example, here in the U.S. we have 110volts AC at a typical wall outlet. I can strip a line cord with both ends exposed and touch the hot side without getting a shock as long as I do not ground out to anything and complete the circuit. This demo must be conducted on bone dry soil that is not a conductor. This type of hype and demo for $$ is the worst kind of evil I have seen on the internet, they cannot be so stupid to not know how easy it would be to be killed.

Here's an idea, behind that big door is a full blown welding machine clamped to the metal he is welding with the other  connection end connected to the junction box on the wall of the building.
The ali block is just a solid conductor, no potential drop, hence no danger of electrocution.
Any sensible person would wear a welding mask.

Yahoo and hotmail addresses, probably a free hosting webpage loaded with popups and adverts.
It stinks of scam to me.

Rob

SPARKY even puts the unit in his pocket soaking wet   Helmut is probably correct the device is not necessary to weld if you come right off the pole    I have welded this way on the road dirrectly off the battery in emergencies   and 50 amps AC will make a nice burn   Chet

When he hooked the welder into the electrical box, I was expecting to see him get a shock. But when he plonked it in the water, I was expecting him to dance.

I have recieved plenty of shocks from welders and the mains electricity system, and can definately verify that it's painfull.

And yes, he should be wearing a face shield. I have had arc-eye a few times and also received shocks even when I was being very careful, and I can tell you that arc-eye is not funny.

@ramset@bulbz
Thats absolutely right! The Flashburn gives more hurt then the shock from Electricity.
Yes it feels like you hafe sand in your eyes and someone came with his thumbs and is pressing it to the eyes.

Perhaps you have whatched it,that the guy does not want to just put the Alublock to the Ground.
It was either in his hands,in his pocket or in the isolatet dish.
