i am building my second pulse motor, but this time i am trying to use an optic sensor (OPB876) as the trigger. i am getting a pulse but only a small one. does any one have any ideas

This may be a little patronizing to ask, but are you using a power-transistor to channel the current to the coil, or are you only using the optical sensor to channel the current? Also, make sure the power source is a high-enough voltage for the coil to produce a strong enough field (or increase the number of windings).

You could also try adding a large capacitor as a current-tank if the power-source can't supply enough continuous/immediate current.

It may be something far more complicated though. Perhaps you could describe your setup with more detail?
