« on: January 18, 2008, 05:55:47 PM »
sorry my first post is a request!  i haven't finished building a working motor yet, but i'm getting there!

could someone point to or lay out some basics on magnets, such as:
specifically, which types are stronger than others.
also which metals and materials are attracted to magnets.
thanks

If your talking about the metal, it's known as Mu-Metal, it has high permeability(highly attracted to magnets), it can be used as a shield, if you had a U shaped piece for instance and placed a magnet inside, then most of the flux is directed from one pole to the other, the mu-metal is effectively shorting out the poles.
