Scientific Publications considering Aether or ZPE
« on: January 17, 2008, 02:13:27 PM »
I’m looking for information concerning aether or ZPE. What is the “currently valid” opinion of the scientific community?
Please post links or references to books that discuss the aether, e.g.

A Brief History of Time, Stephen Hawking, ISBN: 9780553109535
Einstein-Aether Theory, C. Eling, T. Jacobson, D. Mattingly - http://arxiv.org/pdf/gr-qc/0410001

Thanks to all posting links.

Aether = ZPE = Dark Energy - it's the same!!!

P.S. There is no Dark Matter. Only those above!!!

I don't have anything on aether since that's a substrate or medium, but here are some links for ZPE that I think are "currently valid", keeping in mind that even what's valid even in the scientific community varies...

The general concensus in the ivory towers is that it doesn't exist. The theory of the ether has essentially been ridiculed since Einstein's relativity became popular, and his later acknowledgement of its existence as a possibility was no more than lip service.

If you really want to study the Ether, I recommend you start with these books:

'Universal Laws' by John Keely
'Ether, God and Devil' and 'Cosmic Superimposition' by Wilhelm Reich. (Reich's attempts to demonstrate his 'orgone' energy phenomena to Einstein also make interesting reading)

Both Keely and Reich could be classed as experimental physicists. It wasn't just theory.

...oh and Bjerknes on 'Hydrodynamic Analogies to Electricity and Magnetism'. Read this... http://www.svpvril.com/bjerknes.html

I'm sorry I can't give you anything more contemporary, but I really think you have to look further back to find the valid information before the waters were muddied with a load of mysticism.
Aether was forbidden as science for 100 years, just as the Tesla technology. But now it recovered under the name Zero-Point Energy. It's simple ;)

I think of aether and ZPE as two different things. I think of aether as the underlying substrate or medium and of ZPE as the energy of waves that exist in the aether -- aether wave energy.

I use the analogy of two people standing in front of an ocean. In the analogy, the water is the aether and the energy of the water waves is the ZPE. One person wants to tap into the water (aether) and one wants to tap the wave energy (ZPE.) The person who wants to tap into the water fills a glass with water from the ocean and walks away with it so that they can tap into the water. The person who wants to tap into the wave energy places a device in the ocean that consists of a floating buoy with a magnet firmly attached to its bottom. Anchored to the bottom of the ocean is a coil which is arranged around the magnet but doesn't touch it. As the waves move the buoy up and down, so the magnet moves up and down the middle of the coil, generating electricity. The person with the glass of water is tapping into the medium and the person with the buoy is tapping into the wave energy.

How would you tap into the medium? First you'd have to at least have a theory of what the medium consists of and then figure out where there is energy within that medium. Loop Quantum Gravity seems to be a theory of the medium/aether and may be a starting place.

Myself, I'm working on the ZPE approach, the wave energy.

Just to let you know that H. E. Puthoff is coming back with a new paper at arXiv on ZPF engineering:
http://fr.arxiv.org/abs/1012.5264

It is interesting but nevertheless I don't see real news on the subject. There are even concessions from H. E. Puthoff that he failed in experimenting some ideas.
