I didnt think cars like this were commercially available........

They are not,

As you might have noticed they do not sell cars, they sell "reservations". I guess that means you get put on a waiting list after you pay your money, for delivery if and when the thing is actually built some time in the future, at which time the balance, whatever that is because it is not specified, is payable. You really didn't think you could get an electric car, however basic from $500.00? Did you????.

Sounds like a scam to me.

it looks like a great package though.....maybe a fibreglass model would be better .Someone converted a mitsubishi  hatch back to electric for NZ$15 000 with cheap batteries .The range sucked but it was good for around town.

I don't know about you, but I know that I drive less than 100km a day.

I average a total 20km to work and back and 70km to town and back.
Do you really need more than say 120km range?
