For simplicity reasons I had the balls just leave the wheel and roll on a track to there next position free from the rotation of the wheel. You could have them attached to the spokes but there affective mass would be zero. Once the ball rests on the horizontal ramp gravity is pushing straight down and the ramp is pushing straight up canceling any force thus leaving no directional force to move it to the right. It would maintain this balanced state. I could make a graphic if you would like?

This is where what I was saying about the smot having to be the source of energy because it is the only other "potential" source of energy in the design.

Tim

ok, thanks.
please do draw the correct graphic :)

also there is only one smot which would be located where the top center ball is at. this location would be the starting point for the smot.

Sorry I'm a little confused by this. Are you saying there is only 1 SMOT in the design at that's on the top? Or is there one for the bottom rail as well?

Here is a slightly better graphic. Did I leave anything out? Any ball that's on the ramp/SMOT will contribute zero force to the wheel by themselves.

well i guess you can try to use two smots one on top and the other at the bottom. but the original idea was suppose to be one smot which starts where the top center ball is at.

Either way I don't believe it will work. Unless a SMOT itself actually works. I hope this helped.

hhhhmmmm, sorry. You can't slope the bottom like that. You run into the same problem as before with the alignment of the spokes. If you rotate the wheel a few more degrees clockwise the weight at the start of the bottom ramp would move closer until it reaches a balance. And due to the alignment being off the next one to fall would not be in place yet. As for the wheel it will always find a balance. The SMOT is what you need to make work.

yes it is pretty much the smot that drives the wheel. but again the way i apply the smot is different from most systems.

I'm not really into this SMOT system, I have only played with a TOMI track a few times. The fact that we are trying to get the balls back to the top of the wheel so they can perform useful work via the fall down again brought this thought. My drawing skills are not so just describe it.
So far all the smots have been linear, aka straight tracks. Has anyone ever thought of a round spiral that would have an entrance at the bottom and an exit shute at the top that could deliver the ball up?  Might turn into a design nightmare to make it but then. Guess you could say it resembles the circular driveways at the end of parking garages. Just a thought have fun.

It wouldn't be impossible however I dont believe anyone on this site had the means to build one with the custom shaped magnets. That I believe it still besides the point. I have yet to see a so called SMOT lift anything more then a half inch. There may be video out of something higher but I haven't personally seen it. If you could lift a ball on a straight track or curved over 4 inches in any configuration then we might have something to work with. I always come back to the fact that SMOTs probably don't produce energy.
