LPSR Test video of Mark Olsen motor !

Hi All,
Mark Olsen emailed me the Quicktime video of the test
of his LPSR motor. I just converted it to AVI format.

He still has the stator magnets too close to the rotor,
so it still needs a lot of fine tuning of the outer stator
magnet track.

Here is attached the AVI movie File.
It is about 6 Mbytes big.

Hi Mark,
many thanks for this very interesting video.

I think, you must finetune every magnet spacing on the stator.
It must be a very precise setup , so that the rotors don?t cog.

Also you have the magnets much too close to the rotors !
This way they just only cog at certain points.
If you would move the magnets a bit more far away, the forces would be smaller
and also the free accelerated rotor might have enough force to kick the other free.
Okay, then it would not have this much torque, but it might be enough to
keep the machine running.

Also in this moment the basic principle is not at work as you can see, if you give it a real spin,
the 2 rotors rotate together and don?t kick each other free.

You really must tune the stator magnets this way, that
one rotor is get stuck and gets kicked free by the other one.
Until ou don?t achive this, the setup is wrong and the
stator magnet track must be fine tuned in spacing and airgap
width.

I still think the concept is very good and that with the right magnet spacing
it will work.

I saw the video and very interesting.

I'm wondering if using a 'buffering spring" between the rotors would allow the stationary rotor to use some of the accelerating energy of the other rotor since it would (in theory) be pushed by the spring and line up for easy release by the lst part of the acceleration.

Thats definately interesting to watch,

This may of been suggested.. but can you still obtain the fixed position with some weaker magnet's rather than changing the spacing?.. keep the rest the same to keep the good acceleration but change the 6 on each side that are holding the rotor in lock up so they have less grab but still achieve the same effect, maybe then perhaps there might be enough energy to strike into a rotation from the magnetic acceleration alone.

Also using a magnetic bearing would totally reduce any mechanical friction, I know they can be expensive, but if you can make custom parts that are small you can quite readily put your own together for a fraction of the cost of buying a ready made one.

Also would any form of shielding on specific magnet's help to stop resistance of the lock up.

My first thought is if I pick a ball up and drop it, it will fall to the floor.  If the ball would just pick itself up off the floor and drop itself over and over....

Funny, I was trying to create, along the same lines as this idea.

I ran out of magnets but the idea of mine was to have 3 seperate wheels,
and 3 seperate rotors and have 2 rotors on a 'power stroke' to overcome
the 1 that would hang up and get stuck, like his does in the video.

All 3 are 'timed' and attached to the same center shaft, to give constant spin.

Need to get the materials together again and try it again.

Interesting to see a video of whats in one's mind though!
