Anyone replicate Kohei Minato motor

This design looks simple and makes a lot of sense. These motors are in production now from what I read.

I don't know why we are not seeing more of this sort of machine being built. The concept seems logical and actually fairly simple to understand. I am going to get into building one of these motors but wanted to see if anyone else has done any of the research, seems no one has so far.
