The IST's 15" TPU Project~~{The SM15}~~
« on: September 23, 2007, 04:06:10 PM »
well this is my first attempt at the big Ring i have built many small rings but no big one's in this picture you see i used a cereal box and a screw and a pencil made a circle on the box exactly 15" i then taped down the easyflow 18 GA speaker wire around this circle i made 10 turns around the circle then ran the 2 ends across the circle to the other side of the circle to allow some length of wire to work with the total length of wire was around 43' this collector was wound counter clockwise here is the pic

in this picture you see the collector and 6 control turns and it fit perfectly

the controls are 100 turns of 22GA speaker wire the length of the controls was 11'6"
i used 2 zip ties between each control coil for spacing to keep things even all the way around the collector at the start and the end of the coil i put an extra zip tie because there was a bit larger gap which worked out well

i then went along and cut the control wires at all the same length from the collector and installed block connectors on the ring with zip ties i put 1 block connector for each control coil

in this picture you can see i hooked up 3 of the 6 control coils and based there connection at the top of the coil where my collector leads come out i installed 2 groups of 3 block connectors to feed the controls all controls are wired to 1 place and the signal comes in to all 3 at the same time

then i found some of these little guys there are ferrite rings i found them in cordless drill battery chargers and computer power supplies and those kind of thing's i striped off the wires that were wound around them

so i wound some of those up there many many ways to wind these and many ratios so I'm sure they are just not right yet but they are easy to install and change in the 15" tpu to find the right match this is like a pickup in a guitar but for magnetic waves as well it mixes all of the freq and resends it back into the loop here is a pic of some of my balms i have built so Far

in this picture you can see i added a fuse in the collector i hooked up the balm it is wound with 28 GA solid wire bifuller in 3 segments of 10 turns oppsite direction to the controls then it goes into my 2 groups of 3 block connectors then in to the control's you also see an input block connector to the balm and a collector block connector this collector block connector is hooked up to a cap

the cap value in my pic is 50v .1 uf  it is a nonpolized  cap and this closes the collector loop

now I'm sure all i have said so far is not all correct but it is the best that i currently understand it

in this next picture you see i hooked up a diode and an output CAP to the block connector

this is where I'm at now

i also added a resistor and output leads to the power cap

i have not tyred any power to this unit yet

 ;D ;D

this is where it sits and before i can even try this out i must build an amp or find at least 1 3 will be much better with 3 amps i can bang each coil separately or with 1 amp i can bang them all at once  ;)

so guess what mannix?

tubes lol!!

@wile

the tube is still up in the air

but i want to build a simple amp from it bout 3-4w hifi  and must be able to push freqs from 1 hz to 1.5 meg idealy  i would like 3 tube amps but in time i will have them

im wanting to build a tube rack for testing the tpu on the bench only so it would be the most important tool of all anyone wanna help

mannix?

because once this tool is made there is only a few things left to figure out with the tpu  ;)
