Some Pieces I need for my "Invention"
« on: August 25, 2006, 06:49:52 PM »
I am new here, and I have a 10% baked idea (not even half), and I want to make it work, but i need a couple of things, I don't even know how they are called... So I will just write what I need.

Thank You.

1) The piece which converts the spinning of the wind to electricity. Basically, something I could connect to a Home fan and get some electricity out of it.
2) A piece which could charge a car battery.
3) A piece which measures how much electricity something uses, and how much electricity it gives.

Hi,

I've seen these compact wind turbines on various tv shows. They're impressive when done correctly and can generate significant power in reasonable amount of wind.

You could perhaps visit some sites that show detailed construction plans. I haven't searched yet, but google would be a good place to start.

I'm not sure how efficient a house fan is for this, but it would work to some degree. Below is a website of company that's been on tv. They sell all types of devices, including wind turbines. As you can see, these turbines are a little differently shaped than most house fans.

They have a 400 watt home unit for $649 that's 12 V output

get your self a car battery charger 12Volts it will plug in at home, then go to your local scrap car dealer, ask for an old window winddown motor, 12volt and radio shak or maplines in scotland /UK, will sell for ?5.00 or so an electrical mega, to messure electric use & production. yopu wont spend ?40.00, try ebay for the motor too. and the other stuuf, stick a car battery in to the frame work to take any electric you make... go to youtube...plug in wind turbines and you will find loads of advice.......... hope you manage dude... thom.
