overunity.com up again... Uff....
« on: May 24, 2005, 05:02:22 PM »
The overunity.com forum is up again...!

Please let me know, if there are still any glitches or malfunctions.
Thanks !

I had to change the hoster, cause the last one cheated on me and
vanished without saying anything and just deleted the server...

Good, that I had a backup...
Bad, that due to a Grandstream VoIP ATA486 device CRC errors, many files
in the backup were corrupted.. ( I hate Grandstream firmware, why don?t they have
a simple biosflasher tool ?? ;( )

So I had to reinstall and patch everything again.
Especially the MySQL database restore is NOT easy !

This you only realize, when you think, okay, there is a nice backup function
in SMF Forum software, but later you realize "Uff, there is no restore function !" ;(
So I had to fiddle around with some restore PHP scripts...

Sometimes I just hate Computers !!!

Please let me know, if you will still find any errors.
We are now hosted on a clustered network and not just a single server, so the downtime
should now be very minimal, if the new hoster keeps his promise this time...

Regards, Stefan.

Please let me know, how the speed of the new forum is.
The new hoster has lots of capacity and routings to all
major networks, so the speed should be pretty good now.

Many thanks.

Regards, Stefan.

So far so good.  I thought the 'powers to be' had snuffed you like energy 21 and other sites that have disappeared lately.  Big brother seems to have big pockets to make host systems happy to look the other way....

No,
I had only a cheap hoster, which seemed to better
discontinue hosting without a warning, when there were server problems...

Yes Google adsense kicked me out for no reason and I am still waiting for an
answer from them , what the problem was...
Regards, Stefan.

In any event, I'm glad to see it still here.  In the past, many of the sites I've visited were suddenly gone, and just when things were really starting to look like there was real progress.   Just be careful Stephan, don't want you falling by the way.

Yes, but there is no description how it is done and also he is only
running a flywheel which can be done with very low power input !

If you do it right you can run a flywheel with less tahn 1 Watts and
he is using 6 Watts to run it.
So no big deal until he really shows a 2 HP load on the motor...
