All parts are in, LaFonte Pseudo Solid Rotor
« on: May 18, 2005, 07:46:15 PM »
All parts are back from the machine shop for the LaFonte Pseudo Solid Rotor and I will be doing final painting, assembly, adjusting and then testing.
I should have results by tomorrow night.
Thanks,
Butch

Hi Butch,
very nice !

http://butchlafonte.com/

Now it works like these Klick-Klack-balls ! ;D

Also nice pictures here:

Can you do some video of it ?
How long did it run already contineously ?

Regards, Stefan.

Butch posted this on the JLNlabs list:

The operating principle of the LaFonte Pseudo Solid Rotor is as simple as
falling off a log. Let's not complicate it. The rotor assembly has two separate
rotors that at times are separated and act as two separate rotors and at times
act as one rotor, hence the name Pseudo Solid Rotor. When one rotor is locked to
the magnets, the second rotor moves up to it making it in effect one rotor as
far as the magnets see it. After the assembly moves the first rotor to where it
has moved past the flux field, it can now move away without any drag or
resistance. Now it is a free floating rotor that can move into a flux field of
increasing strength as it rotates. During this rotation kinetic energy is
increased in the rotor. Now, it rotates till it meets up with the stuck rotor
and the two become one again and the stuck rotor is free to become a free
floating rotor and repeat the cycle. Each cycle increases the total kinetic
energy of the free floating rotor. If the energy is not put to work, the system
will increase in rpm and self destruct.
What needs to be remembered here is a way to release a stuck rotor with no work
has been accomplished. Please don't forget this point.
That rotor that has now become free floating is now available to be pulled into
a magnetic field and do work or gain kinetic energy.
Now where everyone is getting confused is this, the rotor that just gained
energy transfers it's energy to the stuck rotor and that rotor can move out from
the stuck position without any back drag because the two rotors touching each
other make the magnets see them as one rotor and after the stuck rotor surface
is clear of the flux path across the face of the rotor surfaces that are
together, it can move away with no drag and start the cycle over again.
My proof of concept machine shows beyond a shadow of a doubt that the stuck
rotor can be moved free with little to no work.
Now we all know a ferromagnetic object can be accelerated up a magnetic gradient
as seen in the SMOT for years. This is what the free floating rotor does.
Here is the big difference! When the accelerated free rotor gets to the stuck
rotor, it transfers it's energy to it and it is free to move out with no drag
because the magnets see the two rotor faces as one and when the rotor that was
stuck moves out of the flux path that flows between the two magnets it is free
to become a free floating rotor and start the cycle again. I will show this over
and over in my video I am doing today.
The addition of the flux gradient arcs does not change the operation of the
locked rotor release in any way.
What we have here is a way to free a stuck rotor with no work to speak of.
In combination with that we add a curved SMOT type attraction system and what do
we end up with? A machine that accelerates a rotor and when it needs to leave
the maximum flux density area, it leaves with no work to speak of having to be
done.
Remember one version has coils behind split rotor faces and produces electrical
energy as well as mechanical energy.
Yes, it needs refining, maybe a total mechanical reconfiguration, but what I
have accomplished here is this, magnets pull a ferromagnetic object to them and
work is done or kinetic energy induced in the object.
When it is time for the ferromagnetic object to be removed from the magnets that
pulled it, no work has to be done. Now that is as simple as it gets, please,
lets don't make something so simple, complicated.
Please see my video to be posted in next few days. Tape has to be digitized.
Thank you,
Butch
PS When I was 6 years old I was playing with a magnet on the side of a metal
file cabinet. I noticed it would pull to the metal cabinet side, but it took
work to pull it off. I found though that it would slide up and down the cabinet
wall with very little resistance. That intrigued me and 50 years later I put
that intrigue to a practical purpose, the Pseudo Solid Rotor.

Well done Butch.
Can you let us know, if your rotor spins up in speed, if you don?t brake it ?
