Inexpensive Wind Powered Generator
« on: May 15, 2005, 06:50:16 AM »
http://www.lookout2000.com/windpower/

Does anyone have experience with the producer of this site? It has been around for some time.

At first glance this seems like an inexpensive and practical alternative to commerciaol units.

HI FREENERGYMAN, I,VE SEEN THIS SITE B4 AND I BELIEVE HIS SET-UP USES A STANDARD CAR ALTERNOR, WHICH FROM WHAT I UNDERSTAND IS NOT VERY EFFICIENT. IT' BETTER TO USE A
LOW RPM PERMANENT MAGNET SYSTEM. A VERY GOOD SITE FOR WIND GENERATORS IS " THE
OTHERPOWER.COM" THE MEMBERS THERE ARE 'SERIOUS WIND ENTHUSIASTS' THEY CAN ALSO
TEACH YOU HOW TO HAVE YOUR PETS GENERATE POWER FOR YOU ! I DOWNLOADED A PLAN
ON HOW TO BUILD A LOW RPM PMG FROM SOMEWHERE? IT SHOULDN'T BE TOO HARD TO FIND
IF YOUR IN THE RIGHT PLACE, WINDPOWER IS AGREAT WAY TO GO!

Thanks, Mark, I'll check out the site.

RE. the Lookout2000 site, I do like the idea of building a tower and turbine from parts I can get at the local hardware store at only a couple of hundred bucks. We live on a hill with few trees and it is legal to have a wind generator in your back yard in Tulsa as long as it does not exceed 35 feet in height. It seems like the wind blows all the damn time up here. I guess I'll finally look forward to seeing the wind blow when I get this set up.

Best regards,

Howard

P.S. I saw a site to which I can't remember the URL that suggested you can tap an unused phone line for the power. Supposedly, there are no regulations preventing this since we pay for the use of the line. I tested our line with a digital multimeter and found 55.5 VDC @ 52.9 mA. I may try setting up a battery recharging station on this line.

GOOD IDEA! HOWARD,
MY UNCLE EXPLAINED A WAY YOU CAN DRAW POWER OFF OVERHEAD HIGH VOLTAGE
LINES BY RUNNING WIRES PARALLEL ON THE GROUND SEVERAL FEET AWAY, BUT YOU
CAN'T GET TOO CLOSE BECAUSE OF LEGAL ISSUES.
IT SOUNDS LIKE YOUR IN A GOOD SPOT FOR WIND ENERGY, YOU MAY BE TO PUT
MORE THAN ONE TURBINE ON YOUR TOWER IF THEY'RE NOT TOO BIG. IF SIMPLICITY
IS MOST IMPORTANT IN YOUR DESIGN,THE CAR ALTERNATOR IS PROBABLY BEST.

HAVE FUN AND... LET'S ALL GET OFF THE GRID!    MARK

Howard. the phone company must then pay the bill for your current on the phone line,
so this is probably illegal and not just too smart..

Try to get a wind generator to work at your hill, that is a much better idea for now,
until we will have these magnetic motors ready....

one global "cheap wind converter" idea more:
the development of an " artificial wind creator" -Made in India
revlite energy solution,a hybrid energy wheel-invention
probably there will be the chance to micronize the system.

when the revlite wheel system will be functional,
and somebody will iniciate a fund to realize the Fellows MEMS-TAR
(Microelectromechanical-Thermoaccoustic resonator)
then we have got cheap, sustainable energy-systems.
the wheel system cost-estimation:50.000$ for 250/500 kw
the resonator market-price-estimation:60$ for 1sqm ,wp 600w-with water cooling
wp 10w/scm=100KW/sqm
the 1cent/kwh-future will/would become true
