There are a lot of wacky ideas about 2012 flitting about...

2012 is the Y2K of the New Milloonnium...

What the NASA video failed to address are changes in our consciousness, and sociopolitical issues.  2012 is not so much a change in the planet, or the solar system, or the Galaxy, or the Universe so much as it is a change in man...  Its the source of great consternation, and much of the world sits in limbo awaiting some sort of resolution...

It might not come until 2012...

I do believe 'Nibiru' would be clearly visible by now...

I don't subscribe to planet X or 2012 etc.
I believe these are diversions. In my crazy world, the scenario displayed
in the movie "the knowing" is a more likely forthcoming event.
This explains the underground bunkers too.

In all reality an asteroid could hit earth in 2012, though I haven't seen any in the path of earth that would.  That still does not mean it couldn't happen, just look back to the unseen asteroid in November that came pretty close to earth that was unobserved until 18 hours before it crossed earths path.

Fact:
Our sun and solar system revolves around the center of the galaxy. However; it follows a sinusoidal motion as it rotates, something like the motion of the a hobby horse in a merry-go-round.
This means that is passes through the galactic plane of maximum mass and solar density every 13 thousand years I think.

Fact:
We have solar flares every 11 years.  This seems to correlate with the cyclical year of Jupiter, with a small influence by Saturn.

Fact:
We have pole shifts on planet earth and our magnetic fields is weakening at the moment.  This is the same magnetic field that protects us against solar radiation.

Now if all three those events happen to coincide....
The best place to be would be in a very deep underground bunker with plenty of supplies, like the one being built in Russia.  Also look up the the India - China border, where the earths crust is twice as thick as most other places.

Our solar flare maximum will happen in 2012.
Best to research when the other 2 will happen yourself, dont you think?
 :)

I read that the max will be somewhere more near 2014.  the last two years where solar mins, and next year is not suppose to change much, another solar min.  so unless between 2010 and 2011 the sun erupts into some flaming deathstar we are fine.  Also during a polar shift there is still enough of a magnetic field to push the suns rays around the earth or we wouldn't be here today.
