New magnet motor idea?
« on: May 22, 2007, 07:00:11 PM »
I have studied my magnets for a while now, and I think I have found a way to make a moving magnetic shield which do not require energy to use. A rotor have two magnets with equal polarization. A stator magnet with equal polarization too is fixed. A second movable stator magnet with opposite polarization are supposed to weaken the repelling force between the rotor magnet as it approach the fixed stator magnet. In the right timing the movable stator magnet is removed from the fixed stator magnet in the right timing where I want lots of repelling forces between the rotor magnet and the fixed stator magnet. As removing two opposite poles away from each other require a certain force and energy, an opposite force is applied in the other end of the movable stator magnet, repelling a second fixed stator magnet, just to equalize the total moving force to zero. This will in turn not require energy.

The result is an unbalanced magnetic force in the rotor, where the sum of magnetic force will always be more or less than zero - which is a condition to make continuous force in one direction - which in turn is energy.

In the animation below, there are a few explanations how this suppose to work. Red magnets have the south pole facing towards you, and the blue magnets have north pole facing towards you. All magnets are aligned in the same horizontal plane. A cam shaft is moving the movable magnets in an appropriate way to make motive force in the rotor.

Take a look at it and see if you understand the manner of operation :)

Any feedback is greatly welcome!

Hi Vidar,
I guess you have to make E stronger or less stronger in a cycle,
so you need always to change the strength of E,  which will cost energy.

I have the experience from my work, that without iron cores,
which can guide flux away and have other strange behaviours,
a motor with just permanent magnets will never work !

So you need at least a few iron cores to get a very asymmetrical flux path
or switch the flux from one flux path to another..

Hi,

I have simulated the forces in Femm. As magnet C are closing B the flux path in the direction of magnet A from magnet B is reduced. I simulated with 5cm x 2cm magnets and I did get a difference of 6 N. When magnet B and C are close, 2.5mm apart (as D and E also will be), the repelling force between A and B is 8,5N. When magnet B and C are apart 30mm, the repelling force between A and B is 14,5 N. Magnet A will pull 6N of magnet C, so 6N is the extra required repelling force between magnet D and E. increasing magnet size on D and E might help?

Then, in my theory, no force is required to move the shield, and the rotor will spin. I guess I have to try.
